Yea i got lucky and searched a few salvage yards online. Found one for $290 shipped to my door. 20,000 miles on it. Haven't really stretched it out yet the goal is not shift to 5th on highway pulls.

Well of all things I was cruising around with my son Thursday night and I felt a small "thump, thump" when I made a sharp left turn. It was ever so slight so I shook it off. We pulled into a Jack in the Box a bit later and it happened again, this time we both felt it. He suspected it was an axle so he crawled under the back and checked the left first and it was solid. When he checked the right it had enough play that I could hear it clank when he moved it back and forth.

About 3-4 years ago I had a DSS 9" conversion package installed on the Camaro. Turns out it was a new conversion DSS offered at the time and they have since made improvements to the axles.

Almost 2 years ago the left rear axle went out doing the same thing (thump, thump in a turn). I replaced it with their new DSS Level-V 1400 HP axle which was considered a big improvement over the original axle and haven't had a lick of trouble since.

I called DSS and ordered the right rear axle Friday and they should have it made by the middle of next week and then shipped to me. Nice part was, they still had my invoice from May of 2015, he charged me the same price for the new axle I ordered yesterday, and he didn't charge me any shipping fee this time around.

to the DSS folks!!

Sucks to hear about the axle, but at least it failed now and not at the track event wasting your whole day there!

Well all it is official. I am on the Quick 30 roster for August 26th at Royal Purple Raceway. Mine will probably be the slowest car there but this is not really a racing event, but an opportunity for me to see what the F-1X will do turned all the way down to 15 psi with the intake limiter. If I need a little extra umph I haven't ruled out pulling the limiter for a couple of runs but at 1000 hp on a stock bottom end I would be rolling the dice (wont be the first time).

Here is a link to the Quick 30 event on Texas Speed Syndicate facebook page. I did a little investigation and I am telling you there are some FAST cars on this list (no mine isn't one of them), lol! Once there scroll almost all the way down until you see the Quick 30 event for 8/26, hit the "more" button and the driver list will open up. I am the last entry on the list at #35. https://www.facebook.com/texasspeedsyndicate/

The lone Challenger entry, I googled the dudes name and that car is sick. It is a twin turbo set up for the Texas Mile but even so, it still runs 8's in the 1/4 mi. Check it out https://bangshift.com/general-news/c...-quarters-too/

Glad I found this thread. Just finished forging my motor and doing a "max effort" Maggie build. Belt issues out the ass and I got thinking about the F-1X..... Los like the Maggie will be short lived.......

Cunningham Motorsports in CA has a drop in piston and rod setup that can take the extra power and it doesn't require the motor to be pulled. Parts are same weight as stock and don't require balancing....you've got time before you 8/26 track date to make the swap.

Seriously though, thanks for the details on your build.

Really...? I thought they were only offering these pistons for the LT engines.
