That's my concern. From my understanding, they can custom grind a FI-friendly VVT2 cam, if it's not already FI-friendly.

Did you have a bad experience before?

Weekend Warrior or Daily Driver?

I'm running with LT Headers, CAI and a Tune.

I want a very mild VVT cam but concerned with engine wear and drive-ability, this is my main vehicle/DD.

I have a VVT SS1 in mine right now. The LSA (Lobe Separation Angle) is too narrow and has vacuum issues with the brakes, not to mention I would need to do a stall for the idle qualities (A6).

FI (Supercharger), does not need that much cam in an Auto so I'm going with a little bit less lift and more LSA (around 119 to 120) instead of the 112 I have now.

I'm getting a custom ground VVT FI friendly cam so that will solve the vacuum and idle quality (again, I'm an A6).

Cam specs play a big role if you are really going to go FI (Supercharged)...

Thanks for the information. Will going with a FI-friendly cam initially hurt numbers when the car is cam only?

I have the GPI VVT SS3 cam and daily drive my car. (and have Bo White ported heads).

Based on what I've read I make maybe 475 - 485 rwhp...

You'll have better idle qualities, but it all depends on the cam choice. NA vs FI are very different requirements. You can go with a lower spec'd cam with FI -- If you're manual, then there may be less impact -- there are FI friendly cams that are manual only too -- that give you some real growl....

I can only say research and decide how soon you'll do FI. If FI is a ways out, then maybe get an NA cam now and swap out later for and FI. I did a lot of research, but found out the NA VVT SS1 was just not going to be a long term winner for FI -- and that is a baby cam too.

Ryan (GPI) and I experimented with the VVT SS1 cam and we both came to the conclusion that the SS1 is a NA cam. I'd really talk to Ryan and let him know your plans -- he knows VVT inside and out...

I'm about to install the SS4 and heads on mine and my car is 100% DD. I have basically the same setup as 62Nalide. I had a 3600 Circle D converter with my stock cam and I very much prefer the converter over the stock converter. I get much better throttle response as a daily driver that way.
My car is a street driven car that I also race a lot.

I have the gpi ss4 cam with a yank 4000 single disk stall. I've had this cam in my car almost a year haven't had any problems. I've driven from my house to 1/4 mile track which takes an hr make 10 passes depending on the day drive back home

Check out Nickey in St. charles, Illinois. They do great work. Not too far from St. Louis about a six hour drive.

This is a good point. Thanks. I'm an A6 as well. Hence, the VVT thread. I'll be happy to get over 450 rwhp with the SS2 VVT cam and ported heads. How's that sound? Just yum.

Then later on I can swap the cam out and slap the supercharger on there.

Ps. - What can I expect to pay for an install? I believe the parts (cam, sprins, rods, lifters) will run me about $800-900.
