Coolant Temp Sensor help...

Been asked a few times on the site but each time seemed to be a bit different of a solution.

So I'll ask in a new thread.

I am getting the 'AC Off Due To High Engine Temp' message. Been going on intermitantly for a while now. Well it's permanent now. I can reset the ECU but it will come back after a few miles.

I swapped sensors and put a new connector on it. Wires look good.

I have tested the sensors (both old and new) and tested power and continuance to the connector. Changed the thermostat with a new one and tested the old one and found it was good anyway. New coolant of course.

Dash temp gauge turns off when the issue comes on.

So I'm at a total loss.

The code comes on immediately upon starting a cold engine or hot engine. Unless I unplug the computer and plug it back in. Then, like I said, I'll get a few miles before it comes back on. Codes are P0116 and P0118.

I get a P219A but I suspect it's a result of the hard start and low efficiency brought on by the temp issue.

Interesting note, the dash temp gauge shows just a tad warm when I start it after a reset. Weird.

This curcuit may share info in the computer to another curcuit. Didnt you wreck the car a while back. You may have a pinched harness.

The continuance test shows a full circuit. The electrical diagram shows no sharing on that circuit either.

But if so, how would I chase that down?

Have you had a Tech 2 or MDI used on the car?

Don't know what those are. I have tested every component.

Just for laughs try leaving the old sensor out & connected to it doesn't get as hot and see if it still does it.. Meaning eliminate a real engine hot possibility.. If it still does it then it has to be an electrical issue and time to get busy there. Fans on when it does this I assume?
