Z28 springs sturt/shocks question?

What struts and shocks are people using for stock Z28 replacements, if the Multimatics are not being rebuilt anymore?

Since the Z28 springs are so stiff.

Vorshlag has developed a really nice MCS setup that I would run if I wanted to retire the factory shocks

I would agree on going to a good coilover if the shock/struts are impossible to find which they kind of already are. Coilovers would give you the adjustment to dial in the damping to mimic the stock suspension that you wouldn't get with say an after market shock.

What about GM Mag-Ride setup? Would this work on our cars?

Thanks.

If you could incorporate the computer & wiring for mag ride then maybe, seems like a pain lol.

Magnetic ride shocks are also dis-continued to 5th Generation ZL1's. They are also out for C6 Z06's and ZR1's.

There are many parts that make these cars unique that General Motors and their suppliers no longer support. Do not be quick to change them out. Also, increasing horsepower and torque levels then doing launches are detrimental to magnetic shocks. They cannot handle t
the huge weight transfer.

Drive your cars. They are unique.

I don't think the point was to switch them out willingly. Once they come to the end their service life what do we replace them with is the question.

So basically..... start hoarding up unique parts to the Z/28 and LS7.

Z/28 rims and DSSVs seem to be the highest on the list.

I'm just nervous regarding parts availability. Love all the racing hardware, especially DSSVs, on this car.

That's part of the challenge for those that DD or track the Z. You may wear out parts that are or may soon be unobtainable. Hopefully the aftermarket comes through with suitable replacements.

I bought my DSSVs off an SCCA racer going to coilovers years ago, so there must be some options since he was looking to improve his lap times.

Check out this thread from the ZL1 forum on a member who switched to Pedders coilovers

For those buying current Canyon/Colorados that have Multi-matic shocks or looking at buying a C6 or C7 Corvette, beware. General Motors is following Mary Barra into the ditch by not supporting these cars.
