How long is the key FOB battery supposed to last?

My car is a couple of years old now and I am wondering how long is it going to be before my key FOB battery dies?
Has anyone had this problem yet?

Previous GM remote batteries themselves have lasted me 10 years without replacement, probably would have lasted longer but traded the car in, so I would hope to get the same if not better longevity out of this one. Did have to do some other things to enhance use out of them but that's another story

I believe the battery warranted for 1 Year.

How long they last depends on a number of criteria, mostly centered around amount of usage. Some folks switch up remotes from time to time to average out battery life and fob abuse. A replacement battery is under $20.

No, but using my head as an antenna I can boost the range by about a third.

I'm glad to see Jeremy finally found a use for that giant noggin of his.

Until you're really far from home and in a dead zone where neither your cell phone or Onstar have coverage. That's when the battery will go dead.

Relating to the remote key.

Do any of you have problems with the distance it takes to unlock/lock your car?

I just bought a 2013 Camaro a month ago and have noticed that I have to be very close to the car (within 10-15 feet) for it to lock/unlock. Any further and pushing the buttons don't do anything. Any of you experience similar problems? Any fixes?
