Pricing/optioning guesstimate

Ok, before anyone gets to excited remember this thread is three months old, from another website, and totally fictional. That said, I think the orignal poster of this thread is way out in left field!!! What do you guys think? I want details people!!!

As many of you saw a few months ago I put together a model and options list for the new Camaro.

Since then, different models, engines and content have been mentioned here.

So I’ve decided to update this thread. For the prices I started with current Mustang base prices, adjusted to 2009 dollars by adding 2% a year and then added $700 since I believe the Camaro will cost between $500 and $1000 more.

Notice how many engines I added

From everything I’ve read here and the research I’ve done this should be damn close to what we will see in a few years.

Looks like this guy spent some serious time crunching #'s. BUT...I don't see GM calling this vehicle AFFORDABLE for the younger generation with prices like that! That's for damn sure. If they price it that high (40K plus w/ all options), how many people on this site can honestly say they can afford it? I couldn't afford it. We're living on my paycheck alone and my wife's a stay at home mom. I mean, I'm looking at no more than $30k unless I get an awesome APR. And, we are living comfortably.

A V6 fully optioned at $36,620? Um, no. Once again, NOT AFFORDABLE to the "younger generation" that GM claims to be marketing this to. There's no way GM is going to sell 100K+ at those prices. MY OPINION, it won't happen like this.

Agreed.....LEFT FIELD!!!!

Well they probably mean base base will be 19-21k when they affordable to the younger generation. and if you recall the last ss went for around 32k. which I would think they would keep the ss or z28 which ever they put on top close to that and if the zl-1 came out that would be around 40k. but that's me. but he did give the z-28 525 hp. nice!. I want one. I will sale everything I own to get one (I'm single so I can do that) like that. lol.

can't wait to find out what actually the prices will be with options and engine choices.

Maybe he meant 26k for a fully loaded V6.

I could see 26K for a fully loaded conv. V6. I want to say that back in 02, I recall seeing SS MSRP's at around 29K. That might very well be off. But that's what I remembered. The SS went for approx 3K more than your standard Z28. Now I do know this was right because my Z28 was at 25,9 MSRP.

The best pricing gauge is what the main competition will be priced at, figure somewhere within a few thousand of a Mustang. The Dodge Challenger from what I've read is going to be more limited, around 30,000 or so produced annually so you know that's going to be close to $40K, the Mustang is over 100,000 annual production so figure between $29-$33K for a fully loaded Camaro (SS or Z28) V8.

Between $29-$33 is where I'm at. $33 would even be stetching it, but I might be able to make it.

Ok, I built the following vehicles today on line:

07 Mustang GT, 300 HP, MSRP $29,855 and that was loaded.

06 GTO, 400 HP, MSRP $32,685 not much in options.

06 Charger
R/T, 340 HP, MSRP $30,705
Daytona R/T, 350 HP, MSRP $33,255
SRT 8, 425 HP, MSRP $38,095
All prices on Charger are base, their website sucks (not able to add options)…

Here is what I feel the new Camaro might have as engine options and sale for:

V6, 3.9 240 HP, 20k to 25k loaded.
Z28, 5.3L 315 to 325 HP 25k to 30k loaded.
Z28, LS6 400 HP, 25k to 30k loaded.
SS (ZL1), LS7 500 HP, 35k to 40k. Remember this is a 12k engine by its self…

You know what? I'm just gonna have to go all out and get the biggest and baddest. I'm talkin ZL1, here..if offered. How I'm gonna do it, I have no freakin clue! But, for starters, two days of 10 hours overtime per day is gettin me $600. I'm hoping to keep payments at or below $400 per month. I just can't miss out on the 12K engine! Holy crap, it's a work of art!

And if GM can keep the #'s in the same ball park as the other dealers, or even below that (because it will be very affordable to the younger consumers), then it just might be priced like your build quotes listed above. I can't see GM pricing this too high. As I've said before, they have way too much to lose. Thanks for doing the research on those, by the way.

That is never going to happen. I'm a loan officer at a bank by trade, here is how it's going to break down:

$30K sticker + TTL, no down payment = $662.15 for 60 months
$30K sticker + TTL, no down payment = $571.96 for 72 months
$30K sticker + TTL, $5K down payment = $561.37 for 60 months
$30K sticker + TTL, $5K down payment = $484.90 for 72 months

I'm think pricing wil be more around $32K for a nicely equipped Camaro, no money down:

$610.79 for 72 mo
$706.29 for 60 mo

For $400 a month you'll need the camaro to sticker as you want it for no more than $30K and put down almost $13K for 60 months and that puts you at $403.30 a month.

Plus a ZL1 would be a more limited number car like the Shelby Mustang is, figure $45K and you know the dealer WILL mark that car up easily $10K-$20K so say $55K for 72 months=$1048.60

Anyone that thinks Chevy will sell a 500hp Camaro for under $40K and the dealer not mark that up at least $10K I would like to place a wager right now, I need to add to my down payment, and I will. Just look at the Shelby Mustang....the same deal......Any takers???

I neglected to say that my 02 SS is paid off. By the time the Camaro comes out, I should also have my wifes 05 Kia Sorento paid off. That means no car payments whatsoever. So, I'm gonna have to sell my wifes car to get this...HAHAHAHA...ok, I'm going to have to sell my 02 SS. I should be able to get excellent money for it seeing as though it has super low miles and is in immaculate condition. I didn't bother mentioning that in the last post. Therefore, my payments will be at or below $400 w/ oh, 16 to 18K down.

Now that make sense at $400 for $32K Camaro with a big down payment...figure $20K loan is going to be close to $400 monthly.....but a 500hp is going to be limited and dealers will mark it up, I wouldn't expect less that $55K for that ride with the markup....so well over $600 even with a huge down payment.

$0 down w/ a $24,5 loan (will have to get final figure later) @ 4.4% financing got us $401.00 per month. It will be possible to get it at the point I want it. And for the dealer who tries to screw me w/ that MSRP markup B.S., well...they won't like me too much. I'll leave it at that.

original loan 24,526.64 @ 4.4% apr = 401.31 per month
