Lol it's the opposite of a few years back when everyone says you needed them. My builder recommended them and I did the upgrade. When I change my springs out I'll check the trunion as well

They are pumping metal shavings into your motor. Pull them asap. Stock or bronze is the way to go.

Aftermarket vs stock. Funny how my stock ones were still good with a cam at 112K when I got the trunion upgrade done.

Not that I'm an expert but I was faced with the same choice (pre purchase) a few weeks ago and went Smith Bros...

I'm a believer in the stock rockers as well. I see more failures after people have screwed with them with the trunion stuff than ones that have just been left untouched.

It depends on your cam specs. I'll get roasted for this because so many in here are big cam, aggressive cam, violent cam guys as these cams make big numbers. They are also really Really REALLY hard on the valve train components.

The COMP trunion kit is a high quality upgrade for stock motors and modest built motors using modest cams. The COMP Trunion kit is a Street part. If you are using big springs with a big cam, you are into what we refer to as low end race parts and should be using a different solution, a rocker SHAFT based set of low end race quality rockers.

And don't forget to helicoil!

LS3 Stage II 3 Bolt Cam 225/238 .612"/.585" 113+3, they are grinding it with less aggressive lobes for a road racing application and I got the BTR double springs for .660 I believe.

I installed the comps, thought better then replaced with the smith brothers. So I have a set of comps that where never used, just pressed in and removed once to add to my collection of never to be used parts.
