+1 for refinancing, there's no reason to get a new car from what I can see, if youre just trying to save some liquid assets by getting in more debt there are better ways to do it

I support the people saying refinance your current Jeep. All of your financial business aside, which is 100% your business and nobody here has a dog in that hunt, you loose your ass on most trade-in's during the first 2-3 years of ownership.
It's new enough that your bank may even re-finance it as a "new car". I think my bank is 2 model years old or newer. It qualifies you for a little better interest rates for the term that you want to refinance.

I got 21k for trade and the new car for invoice -500. Feels good to no longer be upside down on a loan.

No matter how good your credit is, never go into debt that you don't have to absorb. From the sounds of things you are dealing with your wants rather than your needs. It's your money and your life, you are the one who has to live it. I understand you wanting the finer things in life, I mean who doesn't? But I would wait till you are in a better place financially. The best advice given by many is to refi your current to a lower interest rate.
Just my 2 cents. Good luck no matter what way you decide. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The best thing I have done is pay off my car loans all the way versus just recylcing into another car every few years. It's not as glamorous but gives you a lot more options on the other side. I basically drove a 2004 Subaru for 9 years to pay it off and my other car off too. Went into 2015 owning both outright with a lot more options.

Refi what you've got and drive it till the wheels fall off.
