New vs used

Tired of being on edge as to whether or not I'll get my build actually ordered or not. Saw a used 2ss with under 5k miles, in the color I want, but it doesn't have magnetic suspension like I want. It had the front fender lip bent due to low speed impact ( no airbag deployment). It's been repaired. Dealership is asking $5k less than a new one without the magnetic suspension option (going by MSRP on chevy website) and there's no destination fee; just their doc fee.

Thoughts?

Supply and demand. There's very little supply on new stock, and quite bit of demand. Stating the obvious but many are thinking similar relative to getting and order built at this point, and grabbing a bird in the hand. Used prices are crazy, but cars are selling for a premium. Go on the Chevy site and see if you can find one in transit that's close to your spec and lock it up, that would be my move. Who knows how many more will get built, especially on the 2SS. I'm guessing many will get shut out of their order, myself included.

Just updated my post - it's actually 5k less than a new one. Checking the chevy inventory site, there's none in the color I want. That VOM is intense!

Well if it were me, I would buy the used SS and put a some KW Variant 3 coil over shocks on it . Those will handle even BETTER than the magnetic ride shocks and cost around 3K.

If you don’t get mag ride, you have aftermarket options out there that you may find something you like. The likely only answer for you otherwise would be to order a car to the exact specs you want and hope to get one before end of production.

Look for used that’s spec’d out the way you want don’t settle, you’ll regret it.

Mag ride & footwell lighting is all its missing. I could get those installed later. Getting an allocation for a new build isn't guaranteed. AAAAND.... I could feel & hear that V8 engine sooner!

Mag ride cannot be retrofitted, but honestly, it can be lived without (I have it on mine). $5K vs new is not much of a difference, though, especially since this is an accident car. Does it come with CPO warranty?

I just verified with Chevrolet - they said the VIN still has all factory warranties applied.

I'm looking at this from the fact of several dealers telling me there are no allocations for what I want. and with 2 weeks left till the 2023 cutoff, It's a chance for one that nearly perfectly matches what I have a build submitted for.

Wonder why not? It's a 2023

And waiting is an uncertain game right now, with production ending soon
