Factory Error on My ZL1

I purchased a 2019 Satin Steel Gray Zl1 1Le from a dealership that is a four hour drive from my home. So exited that I did not notice until arriving home that the seat belts are black. They are supposed to be red with that color exterior. Chevrolet says it is a mistake and will supply the new seat belts but none of the local dealerships will do the work - say they won’t get reimbursed. The selling dealership four hour drive away will do the swap but I find it ridiculous the local dealers have such an attitude. Oh well- that’s Chevrolet for you. Frustrated!
It has been escalated to level three at Chevrolet and hopefully they will get some local dealership to agree to do the work.

That's lame !!!! I'm sure corporate GM will get one of your local dealerships to stop being babies and do the work.

Make sure you push hard enough. Remind them that you just spent $70,000 +++ on one of their flagship cars and the least one of their greedy dealerships can do is spend the two or three hours of labor to fix THEIR MISTAKE !!

good luck man, if they don't want to do it, it's an easy job for you to do yourself.

That's terrible! GM / dealer network should fix that ASAP and have a process in place for this kind of stuff to make things right in a timely manner.

However, I personally would not trust someone to work on my car that was forced to do so.

Congrats on the new car!!

Factory Error on my ZL1

I agree. I am reluctant to trust the work of dealers forced to do something. I will probably end up driving the four hours back to the selling dealer to have the swap done. It is sad however about the attitude of the GM franchise network.
Thanks for the congrats.

I didn't get red seat belts either...

But the Biggest Error is you didn't post pics of this car.

Satin Steel Gray Metallic was really pulling at me and I know it looks AWESOME on a ZLE...

What’s interesting to me is in that the factory messed up. All of these parts get scanned before installation. So how is this possible?

For the record... orange cars weren't supposed to get red seat belts.

From a glass is half full perspective; Factory build errors are very rare and you may have a one off vehicle. I personally would leave it alone, get the red belts from the dealership but never install them.

RedC7Vette How was the 4 hour ride ? I will probably never go over a couple of hours when I get mine. And if you don't mind how old are you ? I'm 48 athlete build but a 6,4 I'm just trying to get a long term feel/ understanding of the car. Sorry about the belts, I hope it's taking care of quickly.

I drove mine from Detroit to Houston and wouldn't hesitate to take it on a long cruise. I'm a pretty big guy too and older than you LOL. If your area has horrible roads it might be a little rough but hitting the freeway was pretty darn nice. Especially with all the new infotainment stuff and auto heat/cooled seats.

The dealer I bought from was 8 hrs away. I drove a 2014 ZL1 there to trade and a new 2018 back. Got some sleep and drove 6.5 hrs to Bowling Green for CamaroFest Vlll. Drive it, that's what it was built for.

You might want to think about whether you really want the red belts. Not saying the red ones are bad, but I personally would rather have the black ones myself. I just think it fits the interior color scheme better.
