Anybody pay with cash?

Did anybody pay for their Camaro in full with cash? If so, did you haggle for any discount? A couple grand off MSRP?

Sorry in advance if this has been discussed before.

Edit: Did anybody who paid with cash try for a little discount?

Most dealers don't want cash. They'd prefer that you finance it through them over cash. In my past experiences, if you tell them you're paying cash, they wont budge on the car price.

I usually lock up the car price before I start talking about trade ins and how Im paying for it.

Cash or credit? The dealership is going to care if the money is from the bank or yourself. Look at all the threads, most are lucky to get MSRP. But if you can swing a deal paying cash, more power to you!

If you pay cash, you have to fill out a lot of paperwork!

Speaking of down payment (and I know it's been beaten to death), but would $8K be sufficient to put down? Is more better?

In this day and economy that's not always true. Dealers have to pay their credit bills too for floorplan. If for instance his dealer is having trouble, I think he'd prefer cash. JMO.

i would say that more the better, but don't empty your bank account. i have putting down a good chuck, but will still have a even bigger chuck left in my savings...dont put everything you have down, leave some for emergencies and for making the payments.

thanks bluch, for sure i'm not going to sign off an arm and part of my foot. i just dont want to show up with my measly $8K (for example) and have the dealer laugh me out of the showroom. good luck to everyone

YES...i PAID cash. There isn't a couple grand markup. Margins are extremely thin on the camaro. I saw dealer invoice 1,800 mark up from cost to MSRP and than they had to pay 350 into advertising fund.

I get all my cars at cost . No hold backs on Camaros either.

Right now there are more cars being ordered than built. Dealers have no reason to haggle. The price is going to go up before it goes down.

My dealer just told me today I was the last one He is going 1500 over MSRP.

He just can't kerep them on the lot...40 to 50 people a day come in to look or ask about it.

He said he wishes he had 100 of them.

Good Luck.....I'm pullin for ya

And if you did pay cash, can you PM me your address and your security system code? Or better yet, leave me a key under the mat

Unless you finance through the dealer, then you are paying cash as far as they are concerned.

If you finance through your own personal bank, then you are going to be giving the dealer a check for the cost of the car. They will cash/deposit that and all their debts are done.

If you pay with cash, be it your personal check, or big wads of 100s, it works the same way to the dealer as the example above.

Even if you do finance through the dealer, I thought that you were financing through GM's financing arm, and not through the actuall dealer himself, in other words, the dealer is still getting paid full value of the car, and not waiting on you to pay him, so he can pay GM.
