That's so tragic.

Extremely detailed write up. I learned a great deal of things. These guys and gals were a courageous bunch; each a hero.

Great write-up, I don't know which was worse, Challenger happening so suddenly or watching how radio contact was lost with Columbia and just awaiting. Either way, both tragic.

So what got you so interested in Space? and another how was communication done to the orbiter, through High Frequency? Or what wavelength? Or through bouncing off satellites?

The thing with Columbia is that they HEARD her break up. They were sitting in a room, not TV on, and they hear their spacecraft break up. How hard must that be?

Basically living in Florida and visiting the KSC so many times. You learn to love the Shuttles when you're a Floridian. Space Shuttles actually use high frequency and satellites. It depends on a number of factors.

I've only been to Kennedy once and over at Patrick AFB once, it's a great place and awesome to be just sitting at home one day as one came back with the sonic boom.

Ah. I'll miss the sonic booms. No doubt about that.

I read it too. But I decided to refrain from posting it. I didn't want people to feel too uncomfortable.

Awesome post, Overflow.
I will never forget that day, watching it all happen on live TV in my 3rd grade classroom.

I've typed up the STS-107 anniversary post, but I'm experiencing technical difficulties. Facepalm.
