it maybe used to be the days when a mid to late 20 something couldn't afford a 100k car.

today that's different.

I'm talking people right out of college who are just entering the workforce. Even the majority of people in your age bracket can't afford a $50k car right off the bat.

the majority of people in my age bracket realized that college is a joke for the most part here in the states and didn't bother adding 50-200k worth of debt to their name for a silly paper.

;-)

Please. I wouldn't have half the opportunities I have if I wasn't in college right now.

The more you post, the more you sound like one of those Orange County trust fund babies! Quit while you're ahead!

Meh, I think *most* is still incorrect. Even with some liberal arts degree, you still have the requisite "4 year college degree" that so many, countless really, employers put in all their listings and hiring criteria.

In any case, it sure helped me. 28 year old here, never had interest in corvettes before, I'm typically a fan of German cars, and the C7 just speaks to me. Totally out of character for me, but I plopped down my placeholder fee / refundable deposit at my dealership and plan to be in mine before the year is out. I'm even considering the museum delivery option despite my general lack of interest in previous corvettes.

I'm hoping that the $71,000 figure gets you a 2LT and the Z51 performance package. I don't want to spend much more than that

Education & certification is essential for my job (healthcare administration, revenue cycle management). Finally starting grad school for big data analysis (healthcare administration informatics). There are plenty of folks who never went to college and have made major $. Personally, I love school so will eventually get my doctorate.

My max for C7? 2LT, Z51, NPP, mag shocks - hoping for $65K. If it's lower then I'm one happy puppy. Since I thought was I going to be dead 12 months ago then I can live with 10-15% higher but not much more. Higher than that and you're talking M3 probably or possibly a lightly used Porsche.

Can I pay for a new $65K car in cash? Yes. Would I ever do so? Hell no, not with dirt cheap financing from NavyFed or PenFed available right now. $0.02

That silly paper is the reason I am in medical school.

First time posting here, only because of the ridiculous statement I had to quote. Saw my first corvette when I was 4 years old, referring to it as "the car with circle lights." I was obsessed with it until I entered high school (started to prefer foreign cars). With the release of the c7, my obsession has been rejuvenated. Even though I can't purchase one until I graduate medical school in a few years, the new vette has me googling 2014 stingray every hour of the day. Hope to join the club soon (even if it does top 71K )

each to their own; i walked away from paying interest on anything anymore.

no point to it in my opinion.

I've owned 5 vettes in my life... (64, 65, 66, 01 and 04). 01 & 04 I ordered brand new. I've had a love affair with vettes every since I was about 10 yrs old.

If I have to top 60K for a 2LT....I'll unfortunately pass. Just can't bring myself to pay that much for her....or any car. It's a personal issue.....not a financial one. Hopefully GM will keep the 2LT below 60k.....but I'm not very confident.....
