Production of the Camaro ZL1 1LE
will be produced in limited volume,
approximately 750 units per year.

..............................................
All of my expect allocation is committed....

+1

This info (about allocations) was a bummer when we talked.

Thanks for the confirmation Becky. Good to know my Dealer is being straight forward.

Its strange on Chevrolet's official page about the 1LE the wording makes it sound like a order option. I wonder why they wouldn't mention the allocation officially?

Motortrend, Maxim, and Road and Track are all claiming its a easy as clicking a 1LE box when customizing your ZL1. None of these sites mention a limited production or allocation amount. While on the Dodge Demon these sites make it very clear its limited production ect.

Quote:
Motor Trend: To receive these performance updates over the standard ZL1, buyers must check the box for the ZL1 1LE Extreme Track Performance Package, which itself costs $7,500.
Quote:
Maxim: Sounds like checking the "1LE" option box on the ZL1 purchase is a no-brainer for anyone heading to the track for some fun with their new Camaro.
Quote:
Roadandtrack: If you want it, you'll have to tick the box for the "ZL1 1LE Extreme Track Performance Package" on the order form.

And they will be lucky to sell 500 of them just like the last Z28.Dont let them fool you into paying over sticker. Not that Becky would but other dealers.

Kinda agree on this one. The ZL1 1LE sits in a very small, niche market. Those in the market for Camaros aren't looking to spend $70k+. And those that can afford a $70k+ car tend to go to other makers (BMW, Mercedes, etc.). So I think the 750 allocation should be fine.

I don't think GM pulled the 750 number out of the air. The original Boss 302 Laguna Seca was limited to 750, the GT350R is limited to 750. Those all sold out with extra ADM. I'm guessing there will be dealers adding huge ADM to the ZL1 1LE, so if you really want one at MSRP, you'd better find a dealer that will nail it down for you now. If you wait until they are released, you'll be screwed.

Look at it this way. People have no problem dropping $80-100K on a Z06 Corvette, and it is quite possible that the ZL1 1LE is faster around a track.

GM already shot themselves in the foot with the Z/28 and their large discounts for cars that sit. I don't see how anyone could feel comfortable paying over MSRP for a ZL1 1LE knowing GM's history of deep discounts. Heck the regular ZL1 can be easily had for under MSRP.

Ford has never deeply discounted the Boss 302, GT500 or GT350. Over time the market cooled off (finally doing that now for the GT350) and they could be purchased for MSRP or less. Don't get me wrong as I hate the ADMs Ford dealers were charging on the GT350 and even more so the R.

I purchased my 2008 GT500 at a very significant discount as did many other buyers. $3,000 rebate from Ford and $3,500 dealer discount for $6,500 off sticker down to $38,500.

Then there was the '08/'09 GT500KR disaster where they sat for in the hands of retailers with their $83,000 sticker prices. Many of these cars never cleared the market until there were $30,000 discounts. A fellow I know bought one in early 2010 for $54,000 which was 29K below sticker. "Limited" production, total BS, always is.

My apologies you are correct on the first gen GT500 and KR. A lot of that had to do with the economy tanking though. I believe the only other rebate eligible GT500 was remaining 2012s after the 2013 GT500 hit dealer lots. The Boss 302 and 13-14 GT500 were not eligible for Ford discounts and of course the current GT350 to date.

No mark up game at my dealer either, classic in grapevine did me right on both of my purchases.
