If the ZL1 can handle an automatic why not the LS3 ?
Also Mustang gets the good exhaust in the package and we have to pay 800 plus for the NPP. The short throw shifter is in all GT Mustangs where the short throw is an option in a Camaro, more bucks.
Mustang also offers 3:55 gears and 3:91 gears as an option where your only rear end choice with Camaro of a 3:91 is to go for the 1LE package.
Seems GM could tidy up the Camaro and have an even better car.

I agree that GM could have done better on the exhaust and I see no reason why they did not offer the LS3 in both manual and automatic but I am sure there were reasons.

The Mustang NEEDS the lower gears because of its smaller displacement engine. You need to get the rpms up higher to feel the power, not so much with the much larger 6.2 in the camaro.

Compared to the Mustang, I believe the Camaro is so much better as a comfortable driving car that there is no comparision between the two and when you put the power upgrades on, the camaro handles higher power much more comfortably then the mustang in my opinion.

Yes and Have you ever priced just a mustang g.t with the 5.o engine and put the options you want on it to make it handle and look half decent? You should know you would pay more for one than a fully loaded 2ss/rs by thousands and not have heated mirrors or auto dimming mirrors, or automatic headlights, or back up camera , head up display or this that and the other thing let alone IRS...... Chevy makes a better car.

theres another hidden model thats really hard to get. i "THINK" is in the 80-90k's. "COPO", deriving from the old Central Office Production Order cars. and they run 9's 1/4's off the line.

With only 138 made over 2 years not much chance of ever owning one:(

Besides the Mustang had special drag model the Cobra Jet.

Mustang is old, that's why. Ford's gotta doll it up with bells and whistles to make it worth it. Well you can put makeup on a pig my friends, but you know how that goes.

I respectfully disagree. For $32k (1SS money), I got a premium trim 5.0, with leather, interior upgrade, premium wheels, and a premium sound system. You can't touch a Camaro with all that for less than about $35k with incentives and discounts. And even then, you don't get voice activation, and no VVT on the V8. And the Camaro may have IRS, but the Mustang (even in standard form) is better balanced, and out-handles the SS by a significant margin (something like .90G vs .98G).

As for the other items you listed, heated mirrors are worthless on a car no one drives in the snow, and make much sense as putting 4WD with a low range on it. Backup camera is useless to me as I look out the back window or at my mirrors when backing up, not down at the dash. Mustang does have automatic headlights. And I don't know about auto-dimming mirrors because honestly, I've never noticed. So in terms of usefulness, what you are essentially down to is a $4k head up display and maybe a mirror (and admittedly, a little better looking car).

And I bought mine two months after the launch of the 5.0 when incentives were much smaller, so you can probably buy my car cheaper today than what I paid if you shop around. And I know most who buy in this segment don't normally consider this, but with help from the TiVCT and efficiency of that SRA, I get 30 mpg @ 70mph on the interstate (yes, with the V8), so I'm probably saving a few hundred extra every single year on fuel. Dollar for dollar, a Mustang is a better value if you have no brand preference, which I don't.
