It is very easy to make. Just drill a 1/4 hole in the strap and use one 8m nut, bolt and that's it.

NO, do not turn the Bolt! Only turn the nut.

I have my tool if some one needs it, we can make them for anyone.

riv-nut tool

this is the one I made and used.. my strap was left over from a garage door motor that attaches the door to the chain. 3/16" thick by 14" long the hole in the end was already drilled out and the 8mm bolt fit perfect..

used vise grips to hold the bolt head and the strap with one hand and turn the nut with the other hand.

I bought the DJ Grilles wickerbill for the ZL1, their rivnut install tool was simply a bolt with two nuts on them and it worked like a charm.

Ok, so I have a question. I drilled the holes, and the riv nut just slides in. How much force does it take to get it to actually pop in that hole and be secure? Should that riv nut just slide right in after the drilling? I used the 35/64 as it called for.

Tightening the nut on the tool will actually spread it out? It almost seems like the hole is too big.

Help please.

That all good, it slides in and you tighten the riv nut with the tool, it expands to hold it in place. We changed the size for later hardware to help you guys out and not have to buy the higher priced tool and the bit to use is more common. we now have 1/4 20 and the our first ones were M8 like the OEM. Like I said in this post and in the directions its better to ream to the size but it will work when you use the riv nut tool.
