Does anyone know what this part is? (Oil leak)

Hey I am new to this forum but I had a question regarding my car. I have a 2017 Camaro ss and I noticed that it has an oil leak. When I went under the car I noticed that it was leaking from this part but idk what it is called and why it happened. If someone could tell me what the part is called and how to fix it that would be much appreciated. The leaking is coming from on the side of the oil plan from that nut as shown in the photo. Thank you and please let me know.

Put a wrench on that bolt and see if its tight. That is the Engine oil cooler.

That's the water-to-oil oil cooler, to be more precise. SS has additional air-to-oil oil coolers in the front but that's beside the point.

As others said, check the bolt's tightness. If the bolt's tight then it's either a gasket or something is cracked somewhere.

If I’m not mistaken, the dip stick is right above that…. I’d make sure it is seated correctly if have removed it in the past to install headers or whatever.

If you're referring to the "auxiliary engine coolant cooler and rear differential oil cooler", that's coupe only. If you're referring to the "extra-capacity cooling system and external engine and transmission oil coolers", that's auto transmission only. In other words, my car (convertible, M6) has neither.

Besides the nomenclature get a wrench on it and see if it's tight.

If it's actually coming from the where the bolt penetrates the pan, then that is probably an aluminum crush washer and you can wrench on it a bit. Others seem to be saying the cooling unit attaches to the pan with a gasket. If the gasket is leaking, then it is probably deformed and needs to be replaced.
I suspect it's a crush washer.

That is a plate and frame liquid to liquid, oil cooler. The layers are the plates that give a huge amount of surface area for heat transfer.

Looks like there is an O-ring seal (maybe two), between the heat exchanger and the oil plan. Should be very easy to replace and a cheap part. https://www.gmpartsonline.net/oem-pa...Y4LWdhcw%3D%3D

Should be as simple of disconnecting the oil and coolant lines from the exchanger, unbolting it, and replacing the seal.

Also a good time to change the oil since a lot is going to leak out when you pull that cooler to replace the gasket.

Also be ready for coolant top-off if you have to disconnect coolant lines.
Are the only bolts holding this the two which are visible?
