Thanks. That's an increase of 226 pounds over the 1LT Stingray. Wasn't the C6 Z06 lighter than the regular coupe? I guess they didn't really have the weight to lose already having an aluminum frame. I'm sure it will destroy competition anyway.

And some people were complaining that the C6 ZR1 was too heavy at ~3350.
I knew it was going to be heavy as soon as I heard that it was getting a supercharged engine, but 3500+ lbs? Wow. I was thinking somewhere in the 3450 range.

I think it was something like 40 lbs lighter than the C6 Coupe. The ZR1 was around 160 lbs heavier than the Z06.

I have to wonder just how much a loaded one will tip the scales at.

Wow, I knew it would be heavier and called 3,450 lbs but was not expecting this. That's significantly heavier than the previous ZR1.

The aluminum frame and carbon fiber shaved over 160 pounds. The MUCH bigger wheels, tires, brakes and 8 quart dry sump LS7 added most of it right back in. So now that that the base C7 has the aluminum frame and CF, the Z06 is pure plus weight for all that performance.

Isn't it also larger than the C6?

I'm sure they did what they could to save weight where it was feasible ... but 3500+ lbs is still heavy for a Vette. I think all major dimensions are within about an inch of each other.

At 650 hp, 3500 lbs won't matter much.

So it's an addition of 226 lbs, a large portion of which must come from the blower and it's added support parts and fluids at the front.
Did anyone notice what the weight distribution percentage is for the Z06 vs the Stingray? I skimmed through a little more but didn't see it.

Unless GM has been very conservative with the LT4's power estimate (which is entirely possible), the Z06 will have a slightly worse power to weight ratio than the C6 ZR1. That probably shouldn't be happening, especially if there is no C7 ZR1 in the works (although I hope there is). I fully understand that there is a lot more to the car than power to weight ratio and that someone looking at it strictly from that perspective is missing the point.
I see what GM did with the Z/28 (and with the previous Z06) and thats the kind of thing that I want to see out of the 'track star'. Throwing more power and more stuff and more weight gets away from that type of car. Thats also why there's room for the ZR1s and ZL1s in their respective lineups. Speaking of the Z/28 ... to give you a feel for just how heavy the Z06 is, its going to be closer in weight to the 5th gen Camaro Z/28 than it will be to the 2005 Z06. It almost spits the difference perfectly, but never-the-less: its closer in weight to the Camaro than its predecessor. That just feels wrong.
