"Base" Corvette (sarcasm intended)

It's so annoying to hear some folks call the Stingray the "base" Corvette.

There's NOTHING about the Stingray that is "base".

All the trim levels come nicely loaded with features.

This is where I will show no respect for others who call the Stingray a "base" Corvette.

Calling a Stingray a "base" Corvette is like saying Godzilla is just a little bitty lizard.

I would call it "Base" if it was indeed that, not a single option added. Once you add some premium floor mats it's no longer "Base".

i guess it's because the Z51 has more packed into it. i've never heard anyone in the past refer to their Corvette as a 'base' Corvette before though.

If you stop and think about it, every car model on the planet has a base model. That would be the lowest trim level, zero options version. Anything else is technically not "base" as it now has added content. I think in our context referring to the non-Z51 cars as "base" is applicable for the point of view of the Z51s having a lot more content as part of the package. Its not meant to disrespect the non-Z51s, just a quicker easier way to state said differences (well, in most cases at least). The thing to remember is a "base" Stingray is still vastly superior than 99% of all cars regardless of trim level. Nobody can take that away from you.

I had never dealt with so many people interested in if I had a base model or not, until I entered the Corvette world... I previously had a C6 and got this question (or underhanded comment) all the time. No, it wasn't a base model, it was a 3LT. Yes, it was a standard C6, not a Z51/GS/Z06/ZR1. Regardless, it was easily capable of blowing the doors off of anyone who was asking the question.

It's funny how people are so obsessed with the Z06 / ZR1 and turn their noses up at anything less, but yet they cannot even identify the difference when a car is right in front of them. It got to the point where I felt like I was apparently driving a sleeper just because it was a standard C6, given how quickly people dismissed it. I was tempted to put a supercharger on it and make some people cry, but then I remembered that I didn't need anything more than my stock "base model" Corvette to do that.

In any case, I have a C7 Z51 2LT now, so I suppose I no longer have a "base model"... I have already had people asking me, "Why didn't you get a Z06?", though. Yeah, it's not even being produced yet and I don't see you getting one either, jackass. Aside from the supercharger, which I can add myself, the C7 Z06 seems closer to the C7 Z51 than their C6 counterparts did, anyway.

Those people who ask, "Why didn't you get a Z06 or ZR1?" are nothing but "Corvette Snobs" and don't deserve to be Corvette owners.
