gauges

I am having a whipple installed by a well known shop and I'm wondering if gauges(boost, fuel) are necessary. I will be around 550+ whp. Obviously I.m probably being cheap.
Looks like it would be $300 or more to do it.

I don't have any either but want some. I'm sure they're good to keep an eye on things. In the interim, I bought the ultragauge after reading a few reviews here about it. Do some searching here on this one if you're interested.

I parked the car for the winter before getting to play with it very much.

I too was wondering about boost/fuel guages. I cant imagine you really need them but they do look nice. I have never been driving and wondered how much boost or fuel pressure am i at right now. Now, I do know how much boost and fuel pressure my car runs at because it spends way too much time on the dyno jet.

Look at getting an ultra gauge it can read boost off the obd if you have a zr1 map sensor and it also reads fuel pressure and bunch of other stuff. Only like 60 bucks

Not needed, I just put an A/F gauge in so i could data log it, and since the pillar had 2 holes added a Boost gauge. Boost gauge is pretty much worthless, you can data log without it. Other then that they just look cool.

Im getting my supercharger as well pretty soon. 4 days actually. Pretty new to the supercharger thing as well, what exactly will i be looking at when i am looking at the gauges, i proabably be getting one for boost psi and Air to fuel ratio. I will be running whatever boost comes standard with the slp supercharger, i dont want to push it too much right now.

From what I understand neither are necessary with a quality tune unless maybe one is at high HP. Boost gauge is not at all. Fuel might be helpfull but fuel pressure gauge is expensive along with a pillar mount which I think is $100 - $150 and digital fuel pressure gauge is around $200.

I'd say mostly for looks but they do come in handy from time to time. +1 on the ultra gauge. I run that and A/F & boost.

Ultra gauge you can setup alarms which is pretty cool.

You guys should take a look at dashcommand on the iphone. I used a OBD ii bluetooth and a little iphone mount. It will show you just about anything and does much more than I need it to. It will data log and everything. I think it is way under used on the site. It is a much cheaper fix and pretty cool to play around with. It has some pros and cons like anything.

It will not. But for $60 I think it does quite a bit.
