I'm back and thinking "C7 or 2024 SS?"
Hello Friends! I'm back after selling my 2016 2SS black metallic about 18 months ago.
(For some back info, my engine blew at 56,000 miles and was rebuilt by Chevrolet warranty.) Here's that thread: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=560229 I drove it another 15,000 miles and sold it during the height of the used car prices because my wife developed motion sickness while riding with a manual transmission. I have owned 4 Camaros, and I'm a Camaro guy. I was planning on buying a C7 but I have seen the nitro yellow color on the Blazer, and it is spectacular, so now I'm thinking maybe I get a 2024 Camaro. I like the idea of getting the last model. I have not driven a C7 yet. I have driven my son's C6 and I really liked the better visibility, being lower to the ground and the lighter feeling. Can I get some opinions? Are the nitro yellows going to be available or will they be so popular that they're not available? Would I need to order it? Have any problems been addressed in the newer models like the "hot start" problem, etc.? I haven't been around this forum in a while so if someone can post any important links to threads, I would appreciate it.

Kirk, the 2024 Camaro model year is almost built out already. If you want to order a 2SS 1LE (that would be my choice in your shoes), you have to act very quickly, or may already be late for that and need to shoot for existing dealer inventory.

Hello there!
If you’re dead set on yellow, then I strongly recommend you search on a site like Autotrader and call every dealer with one listed. With strikes and end of production, I wouldn’t bother trying to put an order in… Know that most of those listed will be either already spoken for (cars are automatically listed on there regardless if they’re sold orders or not), or they will have a sizable markup on them. But you might just be lucky and find one available and within your desired price range. I see a few on Autotrader, hopefully it happens for you Geoff |

The "Hot Start" issue was a simple $25 grounding cable, it really isn't an issue any longer...
You are unfortunately very likely late to the party, I wish you the best of luck finding the dream car for you!

Great! This is the type of info I need. Probably go with the C7. There seems to be a lot of them out there for reasonable prices. I assume that's because people upgraded to C8.

I would go C7, plus it’s a much nicer driving car to me than the C6. I think you will be happy with it. I almost bought a C6 before I got the SS but hated the added weight feel in the steering.

I can't speak about how a C7 drives, but I had a C6 for a couple of years and my 1LE is hands down a much better driving car. The steering in the C6 was awful as were the seats. The M6 in my C6 was also nowhere near as good as the Tremec in my Camaro. I couldn't wait to get rid of my C6. My personal opinion is that in general Corvettes are overrated and overpriced.

I love the Camaro but I'd absolutely take a C7 Grand Sport over an SS all day long.

I agree. The only reason I'm still in my SS over the C7 is old age catching up, I just have too many back problems. The C7 Grand Sport is a awesome car.

My most vivid C7 memory is from a breakfast with my daughter in a diner, witnessing through the window the excruciating process of an elderly gentleman disembarking his yellow C7.
I never really wanted a C7 in the first place, nothing about it appeals to me particularly, but this was the final straw that seared the biggest, most emphatic "NO" into my brain. I would take a 2024, or even a leftover 2023 2SS 1LE any day over the Grand Sport (then do a ZL1 front and pre-refresh rear bumper conversion) and be on my merry way.

I've owned both Corvettes (C3) & Camaros(5th & 6th gen) over the years and it really comes down to personal preference, comfort, health etc.
Performance wise (comparable comparison) you know the engines are virtually identical with individual tuning. I've ALWAYS been a Corvette Enthusiast, all my life, but sometimes money, lack thereof, gets in the way. However, the opportunity presented itself in 2021 and I am a VERY HAPPY OWNER OF A 2019 C7, and will never look back. The reason I jumped at the chance for a C7 is the fact that it was going to be the last model year for this design. Personally, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I was NEVER a fan, and still am not, of the C8. Mechanically, its an amazing car, and will go up against any European sports car. The problem for me, is just that, it resembles all other European sports cars and NO LONGER has distinction of it's own. Good luck with whatever you choose, I'm sure you'll make it your own and just enjoy. DRIVE SAFE, BE SAFE!
