That's actually inaccurate information. Not everyone drives their performance car as a daily driver. Many performance cars could go an entire year without the OLM indicating the need for an oil change. As per GM guidelines follow the OLM but do no exceed 10 months without changing the oil.
I was interested in finding the right dealer to work with in New England (having moved from Maryland). I have been told that working with dealers that sell a lot of performance cars generally has a better track record then those that don't. This was my interest in discovering if I could get me hands on the records.

I haven't had any luck thus far after taking it two other time to two separate dealers...

1st Dealer: Scheduled service for 730am on a Friday in MD. Took it in at 5k miles and dealer stated, "sorry, cant change the oil per your service contract (that comes with the new purchase) until the % left is lower than where it is now (it was around 40%)"

2nd Dealer: Schedule service for 900am on a Wednesday in MA (as I moved from MD to MA). Arrived to that dealer to state they didn't find my appointment and would need to see if they could get me in. While I waited, they also came back to say they couldn't change the oil do to the % remaining (15% at that time).

So needless to say, I am at 7.5K and finally at lower than 10% remaining.
I am looking to identify a dealer in the New England area that has experience with Camaros and Corvettes. I didn't know if this info was available to the public.

I know certain dealers get certain cars on its lots based off of historic sales so I thought it was worth asking for this reason.

P.S. And I know some of you might ask WTH do I even bother with a dealer... I like having all the records kept with Chevrolet against the VIN. If there is another way to do this going outside a dealer for service, let me know!

Just tell them to change your damn oil. I don't understand the problem.

I called GM when the dealer said they wouldn't change my oil at 3,000 miles. GM confirmed the dealer statement but did listen to my remarks concerning time between changes as an alternative (I drive the Camaro on weekends). Anyway since I was there I had them not change the oil then asked the tech not to reset the oil life percentage. He obliged so I should be in good shape for the next one.

I don't know. I just can't see putting a mile more than 5,000 on any oil. Even that makes me nervous, I still prefer 3 to 4K at most. It's simply the matter that oil is such a critical part of maintaining the engine.

I would much rather pay for the oil change than to put that many miles on the oil just to get a free change. To me, that's just plain silly. There are so many things that can go wrong in an engine that we have no control over. But you consider that frequent and regular oil changes is the single best prevention to premature wear and tear, why would anyone cheap out on it?

LOL, "Free"

I see most of you have swallowed the marketing propaganda hook, line and sinker. There is no free lunch. You PAID for four oil changes when you bought your car. The dealer and GM profit by keeping you from getting all four. Most Camaro owners will not drive enough miles in two years to create four OLM "scheduled" maintenance intervals.

The materials-only value of four oil changes is worth $165 based on the oil and filters I would use DIY, so why not use it?

After four oil changes over two years, your engine will be (mostly) broken-in so then switch to synthetic and follow the OLM. If you need peace-of-mind on that interval, send it to a lab for analysis with a TBN test. Then you'll know for sure. Remember that the LS3 has an 8 qt sump so it takes longer to use up the additives than your typical 5-6 qt sump.

BTW, my dealer has a very modern, effective and quality "quick lube" station where all they do is quick in-and-out oil changes. Highly reliable.

In case nobody noticed this from above...

From the guidelines a dealer friend gave me:

Quote:
21. If a customer insists on changing their oil based on low mileage intervals and not in accordance with the OLM, how should dealers proceed?

For consumers that insist on following premature service intervals, we ask that you honor their request. However, they should be notified that their included

scheduled maintenance is limited to four service events within 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first. In addition, Service Agents should counsel

consumers that wish to follow premature service intervals on the benefits of the Oil Life Monitoring system (OLM) and the quality of semi-synthetic oil that will

prolong oil life and oil change intervals. GM will take customer consideration into account when reviewing premature service intervals, however these should be the

minority of situations. Promoting premature service intervals is considered a violation of the program guidelines. Any violation may result in Service Agent charge

backs.

False.
