Great Neck Torque Wrench
Typically I buy Craftsman. Since my step dad took my Snap-On torque wrench, I've been doing the Autozone rent-a-tool but am getting tired of that. Does anyone have any opinion on the $100 Great Neck torque wrench that they sell and rent? I called Sears and they don't stock a whole lot any more.

Craftsman has gone down hill and I don't even think Craftsman tools have a lifetime warranty any more.
Kobalt are nice and have a lifetime warranty (average price). If you want cheap, you can go with Harbor Freight (lifetime warranty and I believe made in America) and most auto parts stores have a store brand (most of which, I think even AutoZone) have a lifetime warranty. Hard to go wrong with a lifetime warranty, regardless of brand. |

Harbor Freight - I have 3 torque wrenches from there and they work great (and over the holidays I spent less than $40 for all 3 combined)

Kobalt and Craftsman are made by the same company and stamped for each store (Sears/Lowes). Both are forged in China now. I am 99% sure the Husky (Home depot) label is the same maker also.

Especially if you buy a single item at a time and use the 20% or 25% off coupons that show up everywhere. Also watch their website.

Torque wrenches aren't the best place to save money. If I was in a bind if would shop around at some pawn shops.
Can you even get an el cheapo torque wrench calibrated? |

I ended up buying some $90 torque wrench at Advance Auto. It came with a case and pretty much stays dialed to 140 ft. lbs.
