I am excited about this movie....and I'm 30 dang years old lol.

Thats right...I was there in the late 80s when the Turtles came on the scene big time, and I was into it pretty hard core. Cartoons, video games, some comics, and lots of action figures. Because of all the good times I had back then, I'm still a Turtle fan today...although can't say I follow any of the modern plots or cartoons and what not.

True, but before the animated cartoon show the TMNT were actually a bit more of a dark story. In fact, I heard that in the original story The Shredder was ultimately defeated via decapitation. But their popularity took off, and to make it really big they knew they needed to tone is down for the kids.

When I was a kid, I actually prefered TMNT II and III over the first movie, but as I got older I really started to like the first better because of its grittier story line and more dark feel. II got lighter in tone, and III is plain silly.

I really hope they do the TMNT justice and don't go to far out of bounds with the story as I've heard they are chaning up the origins of the Turtles. I also hope the keep the story line more on the serious side with a good story. I want plenty of action too, just not meaningless action with crazy explosions lol.

In TMNT#1...I'm looking at it now...the comic starts off with the turtles trapped in an alley by the Purple Dragon gang. The turtles kill...all of them. They go back home (yuck) and meet with splinter (gross), who tells them of his master killing a rival with his bloody bare hands (pictured). His master moved to the USA, blah blah, murdered by his rival's brother- the Shredder...do di do...toxic chemicals, sewers...mutations, turtles grew up fast...la la la...trained them to be...ninja...ok, it's a comic book, it made more sense in 1985, moving along...ah, yes, killing Shredder.

The turtles fight shredder, along with his clan, on a rooftop. The turtles kill all of the clan, after appropriate slicing and dicing, and then attack Shredder. They defeat him, Leonardo having run him through. They give him a chance to save his honor by committing seppuku. Instead he takes out a thermite grenade (everyone who's anyone has one of them) and tries to take the turtles with him, presumably to hell. Shredder is knocked off the building, the grenade explodes as he and it fall, and that...is (maybe) the end of Shredder.

Most of the killing is implied or not directly shown but characters get cut up, have faces that are bloody pulps, blood is flying through the air, etc.

...and hey, I have a Conan comic from '81 and an Unknown Soldier...cool. haven't looked at this stuff for years

Yeah they changed the origins of the turtles for the worse (IMO). They're aliens (not joking) in this one.
