Same reason pop-up headlights were around for the C6, plus the C2 body kit made for the C6.

So now not only can your brand new C7 have a rear end that's 8 years old, it can have horrific panel gaps too!

1.5 cm gap between the new and old fascias for cooling purposes.

I'm thinking anyone who actually buys this will install it and instantly regret it after seeing that.

It ruins the entire design scheme for the C7. Sorry but round lights do not belong on this car.
To me there is enough difference in the shape and design of the C7 lights that they are not really that similar to the Camaro tail lights to me. They have more style to them than the Camaro's do. In fact I wish they would do something similar with the Camaro's.

I do as well but fear they won't in efforts not to be too similar.

The more I look at it the more I like it.

Most rears I can judge in mere seconds..not this one.

IMO it takes away from the aggressive styling of the car.

Oh and if I had $2800 extra I would start thinking of a SC. It's good to be blown.

One thing this kit would do, if it is produced as shown, is eliminate the exhaust vents by the lights...I wonder what the implications of that would be. And by the way, there isn't a guarantee to produce it, so it will be interesting to see how people will respond.

They addressed that with a gap between the old and new fascias.

The questions are: 1) How well will that vent warm air from the transmission and differential and 2) How awful is a massive panel gap going to look.

To me that picture solidifies that they made the right choice by changing the lights.

That "solution" would be 'bleh'

I'm new on here but if you want to see a bunch of 'Vette owners squabble over the silliest stuff, bring up round taillights. I couldn't agree more with many of the posts above - it's a new generation car, the designers made a very deliberate break with the past. They're still 4 lamps and it still looks very much like a 'Vette but if you want round tail lights, get a great deal on a '13 C6 right now and be happy. If you want the new car, take the whole thing as the package Chevy developed. $0.02

Or perhaps pop-up headlamps?

Customization is a beautiful thing (I actually think it isn't a bad look) but when the style is that integrated with performance function (heat exhaust), I would agree with the "package" acceptance position.
