supercar status?

Since the ZL1 and Z06 are close performance wise (correct...?) and the Z06 is considered a [entry level]supercar, would the ZL1 be considered the same?

just wondering

No.

I doubt the Z06 and ZL1 will be that close. No matter how awesome the ZL1 is, it will still be hard to overcome the weight difference, even if the Z06 has put on a shit ton of weight.

I guess a better question is: what's a "super car"?

If you took an SS and add all the modifications to make it an EXACT clone of a ZL1, is it now a "super car"? What if you modified it to out perform the ZL1?

And why would you consider a Z06 an "entry level super car" if it outperforms everything but a hand full of cars? And if you do consider the Z06 "entry level", why would you even consider the ZL1 also being a "super car" if it doesn't even meet the minimal ("entry level") standard?

I agree, the usa cars will most likely never be in the "supercar" group even though they out perform most of them. I think this wrong, but just the facts. they aren't imports or italian made... stupid reasoning..

Look at the viper acr.... is it a super car? nope, categorized into some other class. the z06 has a 0-60 in under 3secs.... that is in "superbike" times.... still not a "supercar"

It's an uphill battle, its AMERICAN MADE.

It is super to me and I really don't care what the rest of the world or industry think of it. When I can kick the hell out of a GT3 and Ferrari where they are supposed to reign supreme....the evidence on the track is all the definition I need. Let's be clear, if this car performs as we all expect, there may be less than a dozen production cars in the world under $500,000 that are faster around a legitimate track like the ring. I call that super.

Corvettes are not supercars, Camaros are definitely not supercars. Supercar means more than 'fast car', if it did we'd just use the term 'fast car' and that'd be it.

Performance is important, but so is interior quality, rareness, styling, and even just straight up price. And to count as a supercar, it has to do better than a minimum in all categories. Being quick doesn't offset being cheap and common with a mundane interior.

I would say the c7 z06 would be knocking on the door for supercar status. The camaro no, even the zl1 and z28 I still believe would fall short... but just my .02

I car that does what most others cannot could deserve super car status but you can't convince me that a car that costs a million dollars is 20 times better than a 50k car. Hand built, seats covered in some exotic leather, painted in a zero gravity environment. Everything is inflated. Honestly the ZL1 is a great car. I don't care about the price because I can't do anything about it. If you gave me a Porsche 918 I'd still rather have the ZL1 to drive. If you want it that's super enough.
