How to do a big burnout at a drag strip?

This is in reference to a thread i posted: http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=513935

I have a 2017 Camaro ss 1LE, and for some strange reason my car just doesn't like to burnout. I have traction control all the way off (held for 10 seconds) in both track mode and sport mode and it just does not want to sit their and spin the tires, i can do a launch burnout where i just rev it up and drop the clutch but i'm wondering why i can't do proper burnout for example if i'm at the track and want to properly heat up the tires.

So the way i do a burnout and have always done a burnout in a manual car is simply by revving the gas drop the clutch and apply the brake.

are the breaks over powering the engine? Is their a certain mode the car needs to be in? I've tried race while in track mode and no dice.

To make it easier i have attached a link to show you what i mean. I've only been successful TWICE in doing somewhat of a decent burnout while doing the same thing everytime..

In your video, it sounds like some sort of electronic system cutting power, so if you have everything off like it sounds, maybe it's torque management shutting you down. I could definitely see it as a possibility if you get on the brakes too hard. It also sounds like you may not be allowing the engine to rev high enough before dumping the clutch. I could be wrong, but it sounds like you were at a higher RPM on the successful attempt. Getting the tires spinning faster right off the bat reduces their grip and means less brake pressure is needed to keep the car from moving, which means you would have less torque on the drive-train, if TM is part of the issue. I have also stalled and nearly stalled cars that had no TM from simply applying too much brake pressure on a fairly grippy surface and those cars had way less braking power than the 1LE, so it's possible you're just jumping on the brakes too hard after dumping the clutch.

As far as modes go, I'd say use any sport or track mode, as long as you stay out of Competition Mode. If the SS is like the ZL1, when you go into Competition Mode, Traction Control is active except maybe Race Mode. We do have Line Lock available that allows a burnout while in Competition Mode in a ZL1, but I'm not sure that's available in the SS. Just holding the TC button until both TC and SC lights come on should be all you need to do.

Hope you get it figured out, especially if you're trying to drag race. Heating your tires a bit is a must.

i'm definitely going to give it a shot where i just limit the brake pedal pressure, i was in both track mode / sport mode in all attempts on my video. someone posted that in touring mode TM doesn't affair with brake stand burnouts so i'm also going to give that a try.

i really appreciate your input any ideas i'm willing to try.
