I'd like to see Al or GM answer/address the A8 issues. I successfully completed my GM buyback last week due to many issues but mainly the TCC shudder issues. I live in NC, the vehicle was out of service for 26 cumulative days during 12 months. I loved the car but was losing my sanity over all the build quality issues and the A8. To me, it's very sad to see us spend our hard earned money on inferior engineering. Just my two cents.

I had the shudder and had the torque converter replaced. It made it go away but I had the tcm tuned to eliminate all the trans slip in 7th and 8th gear.

A8 TC Shudder

I had the shudder last summer. it occurred in V8 and V4 modes. Had the triple flush to no avail and the TC was replaced in July at 15,000 miles.

Started to happen again last month at 18,000 miles but switching to manual mode seemed to make a difference. weather has been so crappy I have hardly driven it since but plan to bring it back to dealer in spring (still under 3 year warranty).

If it weren't for the shudder, this would be a fantastic tranny. I love the way it learns to respond to my throttle inputs and know when I want to hold a gear.

Was that summer '17 or '16? I had my TC replaced about 2K miles ago, no trouble yet.

+1 on this.

Makes me question the long term reliability of this car. If there's no good fix on the horizon may just dump this for the next reliable fast machine

Might as well bring this back to life since there are more A8 transmissions out there than ZL1 M6 boggers

While I don't have a GM with 8speed I do have a Focus with the terrible DCT. So I know your guys pain dealing with annoying transmission problems. I would hope they would answer this for you guys.

I forgot to mention that I now have the hard 1-2 shift and then once the transmission warms up, the 1-2 shift is this long drawn out event. It's like it's just stuck in first for what feels like forever then shifts to second and jerks the car. This is the worst car I've ever owned. I doubt I'll buy another camaro. I've been looking at 16-17 mustangs. I may get one and whipple it. And GM wonders why sales have tanked. Everybody has heard about these issues and are going elsewhere.

Please.

My car had the TC replaced and it performs perfectly. I want to understand the root cause and the solution to gain long term confidence. Simply replacing the TC with the same TC solves nothing.
