Particularly for WhyUMad1LE's benefit - the original, 1st gen Mustangs all came with a very similar V-bracing arrangement (and only a few also got any sort of lateral bracing). Even though that car used a SLA suspension design, the spring and strut loads were taken out at the tops of the towers just like strut suspensions today do.

Guess there isn't much that's really new here . . .
