I know he unsubscribed but I thought I'd point out (as it has to do with reading comprehension) that the OP did refer to the lid being off, and not just the plexi. It was pretty clear. I think that's strike two on the reading comprehension there bud.

What part of this opening sentence tells you that he meant the plexiglass only?

I understand the lid acts as a seal against the engine compartment air but I would like to know if anybody doesn't put it on.
