^^ that. I don't get why anyone would complain on price comparisons when they build the more expensive car with options not even available on the other. Those two options are 2700 as well, half the difference.

Both my wife & had 1965 Mustangs as 1st cars. Her's a coup & mine a conv. Back in the mid 70s we both paid $400 for a running and not beat up cars. Our total count to date is 5 Mustangs (currently have a 2013 GT) and 8 Camaro/Firebirds. My wife has informed me that her next car will be a new Camaro 2SS. The Mustang GT350R is on my short list of cars I want but I won't pay above sticker.

I've been a Camaro enthusiast since my aunt took delivery of her brand new 1981 Z28 ( I was five). I finally got my own Camaro in 1998 (my first new car). Sadly, it was stolen in March of 2004. That's when I bought my GTO. Early this year it was time for my wife to get a new car. She wanted a convertible. Of course I tried to get her into a Camaro, but she preferred the all new 2015 Mustang. I couldn't really argue. The 2015 Mustang is very nice. We plan to pay off the Mustang this summer. Then, I have to decide between selling my GTO and getting a C7, or keeping the GTO and adding a 2017 Camaro 2SS to the fleet.
After owning/driving the Mustang for several months, I have no regrets. The Mustang has been a joy to own. Pics: My 1998 Camaro: The wife's 2015 GT Premium convertible: In the garage with the goat:

I always say if there was no Mustang there would be no Camaro so it's hard to be a Camaro lover without liking the Mustang.

Love both. Would get a 4 banger Mustang for a DD if I could afford it and the SS.

Personally I like the looks of the GT a little bit better, but I'm an engineer and to me function always takes precedence over form.
My Dad was a bit of a Mopar and GM guy but we both liked Mustangs too. He even bought my Mom a convertible Mustang. I have always sided with GM Perfomance but typically thought the Mustang was slightly more attractive. I also have a huge soft spot for the new Challengers. I respect all 3 of the American Pony/Sports/Muscle cars. But I will be buying a new Camaro because it fits my desires more than the other 2. It's the best handling car and that is what sealed the deal for me. That's in spite of my fiancee be employed by Ford and having access to a similarly equipped mustang for about 5,000-7,000 less than my Camaro will cost. Driving her away from our wedding in front of all her Ford coworkers in a brand new Camaro is going to be hilarious!

I like all three. In a perfect world, I'd own one of each...

I like all 3 as well.
Agree with poster two spots above, to me function will trump form as long as form is just not totally horrible. The Camaro is obviously the best car in terms of outright performance dollar-for-dollar. The Mustang looks fantastic, I love the re-design. The Challenger/Charger are great looking cars but too big/heavy for my taste. |

My reasons are varied...Many have to do with people and stories. I've got a connection to the car and the legacy of Camaro that just can't be overcome by another brand. But usually, I'll only ever put down another person's car if I'm joking around. I can only imagine that they are just as proud of their vehicle as I am of mine...not gonna be mean. So I'll gladly talk with a Mustang owner, etc. Heck - my brother is one! That said, there are a few makes I hold a good deal of contempt for due to poor business practices, etc...and in general: I don't like foreign cars. |

I absolutely love the sedan like fox body mustangs (with no stupid wings or cladding). Always have and always will. Great design.
That said I've always been a Camaro lover. Throughout the years the camaro's have always been more aggressive and masculine. I don't care what anyone says..... That is my impression and feeling when looking at the cars. For me the Mustangs have always been the "secretaries" car. I have been tempted by mustangs a few times over the years. But, I'll never own one.

As for the Camaro vs Mustang rivalry...I am a fan of both but I plan on getting a Camaro as my next toy car.
The 2016 Camaro is sweet looking and walks away from the 2016 Mustang in the looks category. I am not a fan of the Mustangs new look. The 13/14 look was my favorite look for the stang. I used to own a 2011 Mustang GT , which was one of the earliest of the 5.0 coyote powered stangs produced. I ordered it as soon as the orders could start. I never modded that car but it ran 12.80 at 111mph stock on stock tires. My ownership experience was not so great with that car. I traded up the 2011 for a 2013 Mustang GT to give Ford a 2nd chance. The 2013 ran 12.55 at 113mph stock on stock tires. I put a Roush TVS supercharger on the 2013 stang and it ran 10.83 at 129mph on a 100% 93 octane tune with a street daily driver set up. With having to move from NJ to FL , I sold the 2013 stang for my present daily driver 2014 5.0 powered F150. Now I wait on what the ZL1 will be for 2017...That is what I am targeting for my next toy. As for my last toy... It was a 1968 Camaro that I built from scratch. That car ran 10.28 at 132mph naturally aspirated on 100% 93 oct. Had a BB 555ci. with 10.5 comp. It was an all steel and fully functional street car. It weighd 3,710 lbs with me in it. Everything you can imagine worked on this car. Unfortunatly I had to sell it because I could not work on it anymore. Regardless of the Ford vs Chevy thing that 5.0 Coyote engine was a grand slam for Ford. Chevy and Ford need each other to make each other greater. I just love this back n fourth thing they have going. I can say I hate imports...Never owned one and never will. |
