How many Torque converter bolts on Camaro 2012 auto?

I need to remove engine L99 from my Camaro 2012 SS and going to take engine up. Therefore I need to separate engine from automatic transmission. I have been told to remove the torque converter bolts and push back the converter a bit to disconnect from crank shaft. After that I can remove the bolts that connect the transmission to the engine.

I have removed 3 torque converter bolts but can't push back the converter at all. Is there more bolts to remove or have I missed anything?

The convertor has 3 bolts. I couldn't budge mine until I got the bellhousing bolts out too, then it seperated fine. You should not be able to push the convertor back very far at all. The mounting pads on your convertor may have rusted or seized to the flywheel. You are not going to be able to push it back far enough to disconnect the convertor hub from the crank with the engine still connected. When I did mine, the engine did NOT want to separate from the transmission very easily. It took a lot of lifting and dropping of the engine hoist in tiny amounts and different angles to get them free because of the bellhousing dowels. Just take your time and be careful not to force anything so you don't damage the TQ convertor hub.

I am assuming you are leaving the transmission in the car.

A little recommendation since I know you are trying to do things right.

I used the ARP Pro Series Flexplate Bolt Kit 244-2901 and ARP Torque Converter Bolt Kit 230-7304 for reassembly. I figured the cost was very low for piece of mind. I am not sure if these links will work for you, but just so you can see the part numbers and US cost. They shouldn't be that much more expensive for you. It cost me around $40 US total at the time. I couldn't figure out if the stock bolts were reusable, so this was the safest route for me.

Thank you InFiD3ViL! Yes, teh bolts are self locking and must be replaced with new. the links works fine.

Another issue I have (I will post an new thread) is what cam kit to buy. I don't want to build a racer - 400 hp is fine. And I want to keep variable valve timing (VVT) and components of the Active Fuel Management (AFM) system.
