LSA spewing coolant
Tuesday night I left work and was messing around with a 4th gen SS and I stopped at a light and there was steam coming out from under the hood on the driver side and from the hood vent. I tried to make to the dealership while watching the temps the whole time. I never made it. the car went into idle only so I coasted off the freeway and into a gas station. i called the dealer and had them send a wrecker. while I was waiting I popped the hood to let everything cool off and so I could investigate what was leaking. Check all hoses, GOOD there. It seemed to be coming from the driver side of the motor. I had the supercharger replaced by another dealer back in July. So I am wondering if it could have had something to do with the install. Just waiting now to hear from the dealership that i brought it to. The only mod is a cold air intake.

Blown head gasket. Is it coming from the side of the engine? There isn't any pressurized engine coolant in the supercharger.

The spider looking vent hoses that hook into the heads and go back to the radiator leak on mine. The dealer ordered me a new hose assembly. I wonder if that same hose gave up on you. It leaks at the "T" connection where the two head vents come together and then go forward to the radiator. Just forward of the drivers valve cover above the serpentine belt.

I bet it is coming from one of the little chrome tubes and not the head gasket. These are cross over lines so coolant doesn't have to flow through the intake like old small blocks.

Well I just got the call from the dealership this morning and they said it was the water pump. Go figure.

Stock car w/ RotoFab but it's low number 2012 and has pretty low miles too. Like under 30k or so, with some autocross but not much else. Kind of surprising this happened, but definitely glad to hear water pump. |
