Thoughts on the M7 with rev match

I'm wondering if the manual 7sp trans with downshift rev matching from the Corvette will find it's way into an SS or performance variant of the 6th gen. I really suck at heel/toe downshifting so I would welcome the auto rev matching. Any thoughts or opinions. I'm sure there's many experienced heel toe guys that think it's a bad idea. Not sure if the Corvette has an override for the purists or not but that should satisfy all types of drivers. Your thoughts?

I bet it's the transmission for all V8 models.

This would be nice. Makes sense that it would be the transmission of choice.

Eveyone sucks at first, that's why the good ones practice... a lot.... Just because technology can, doesn't necessarily mean it should.

Adaptive braking is coming. It's intrusive, but for the folks that can't seem to concentrate on their driving it's amazing technology. Personally, I think it sucks. So does computerized rev-match, so does traction control (except on 1,000+hp cars) and ABS.

Eventually you'll be able to read a book while your car drives you to work. For the majority, that's fine..... Not for me.

The art of driving is slowly disappearing.

Agreed. I find myself coming closer to "messing up" when I have all that mess on. I turn it all off 1st thing when I get in the car. With it on, its like Im fighting to correct the car against the ASC/ETC which is correcting the car! Just amplifying the issue. Too many chiefs, not enough indians. But for a lower horse car or someone that is a less "enthusiastic" driver, its good stuff. Im just greatful we have the option of bypassing it. For now, at least!

I hear you guys, too many nannies! On top of that we will have to deal with AFM in the LT1 and I'm sure the 7m will have the dreaded 1-4 skip shift! It all depends on the level of driving experience. Serious track guys hate the nannies and I'm sure the rev match will be the first button they push to turn it off! I for one would probably use the rev match until I can master heel toe.

What are the reports from the C7 guys on the auto vs manual? Both are much improved from the C6/gen five.

I barely touch 6...why have 7 in a manual? It only Screws the shifting pattern to 5th gear. Check out how many times the C7 owners shift from 4th to 7th by mistake...That's a bummer!

For Automatic, bring 8, 10, 15! not problem there.

I agree with you. I've been driving a stick, every day, for the past 35 years. As long as my feet and arms work, I will continue to do so.

Same things got said when we went from 5spds to 6spds. People have to relearn.

Back in our day, we had to shift uphill, both ways, in two feet of snow!

Remember the 'three on the tree' ?
Or the powerglide? Still has a following from the 1/4 mile crowd.

8 forward gears has it's place, but when a car can go from 0-140 (or more) in one gear maybe we've gone too far. 8 speed would be great in a 3/4 or 1 ton pickup.

The torque curve on new hi-performance cars is so great, a 4 or 5 speed trans would be a cool option, but would take a slight fuel mileage hit. Equivalent of the old M22 Muncie four speed in a modern car? I'd click that option box! Riders would say, "What's that whine?" I'd say, "That's what AWESOME sounds like!"
