Well, reading this will make me reconsider turning off the nannies and playing around.
Donuts are fun, getting a little sideways out of a turn (as long as you control it) can be fun too.

Why don't we have an "Airbags Off" button?

Because some idiot would forget to turn them back on after playing around, crash, and then sue.

Because if people got killed using that feature their family would sue.

In most of these cases the tail got wagging.

The Donut Guy wasn't just doing donuts he had the tail kicking out large side to side.

I think that tail wagging is a big factor in most of these events.

If your going to drift something pick something with less technology.

BTW anyone see the vid of the Hennesey CTS-V catapult launch on the dragstrip where Onstar thought they had been rearended because of the launch G's?
This wasn't a drifting exercise - just trying to correct a slide caused by an unexpected condition. Same thing could happen on wet road, iced road, dirt road, poor road surface, .....

An unwanted common factor in several of these events seems to be the change in yaw when the driver turns the wheel into a slide. Makes you wonder what the computer would have 'decided' if no steering input to correct the car's rotation?

Cut them out and put the plastic piece back in it.

Looking forward to it.

I think some people commenting haven't seen the video. Watch it. All that data aside, I'd be pissed if mine deployed under thise circumstances, worse yet, what happens if you pull a tireoff the ground on a road course coming down a hill in turn, computer fires off airbags, you had control, now you don't and you total your car and injure yourself or others.
