Been following this thread with interest. I checked out the Mickey Thompson site today to see what I could learn about the ET Street R. Disappointed to learn that the 17" and 18" sizes use the same R2 rubber compound as the ET Street Radial II does. This leads me to believe the only improvement in grip could come from having more surface area (less tread on the tire) on the track, and how much more is unknown at this point. Will be interested in the results of any testing and/or real world numbers.

I ordered my tires from summit a month ago. The shipping date has changed twice. Just got a new shipping date for May 30. I'm not holding my breath.

The ET Street Radial Pro is technically a R2 compound and it is for sure better at the track over the ET Street Radial ll. MT is making a more steet/strip tire to replace the ET Street Radial ll called the ET Street S/S. This new R tire will be closer to the Pro tire than the Street tire. More of a strip/street tire that will for sure perform better at the track vs the old ET Street Radial ll.

With my end goal of 470ishRWHP in mind I guess I'll just order the 18's ET II's...I shouldn't have any traction prob's anyways...but darn the R's look nice as whatever I order will be track only tires...I really hate being impatient at times...LOL

Or I could earn some brownie points with the wife and get both...hmmm now what can I do to earn some points.

I hear what you're saying, but to state that they will "for sure perform better" needs some actual, real world, numbers to convince me to change from a tire that dead hooks to an unknown. Do you have any data like this?

Unconfuse me please. Are you saying that the ET Street Radial II is being discontinued and being replaced by a new tire named the ET Street S/S? What rubber compound will be used in the S/S tire?

Thanks

Yes the ET Street Radial ll is getting discountinued and replaced by the ET Street S/S. The new R that I made this thread about is a strip tire that is legal to be used on the street. The ET Street Radial ll and the new ET Street S/S are street/strip tires. That's how I am very confident in saying that the new R tire will perform better at the strip over the ET Street Radial ll. If it didn't then it would be a pretty big Epic Fail by MT. I'm pretty sure both the ET street S/S and ET Street R will both be a R2 but like I already pointed out they can be very different since the ET Street Radial Pro is technically a R2 but is much better at the strip over the ET Street Radial ll.

Good info. I certainly am hoping that the R tire is better, since I only drive my car to and from the strip and shop. With the Street II, I sometimes screw up on my burnout, usually when there is a lot of water spread all over the place, and they don't dead hook. A more forgiving tire would certainly be nice.

I've had mine mounted for about a month now, but unfortunately my first test with them will be at Camarofest next week.
