I learned in two different vehicles, a 1966 Oldsmobile 442 and a 07 GT500. Talk about being nervous lol never felt 100% comfortable in either car when I was learning but a buddy had a 90s civic with a 5 speed and that was the easiest manual transmission car I have ever driven

I worked on a farm when I was 13 until college. You either drove a stick or missed dinner and I only went hungry one fu€king time I’ll tell you that much.

Years ago in the C4 Corvette era I tried to buy one and no matter how hard I tried I could not find one with a stick. There was/is no way I would own a Vette with an auto.

My first car was a 74 Gremlin. Orange with black stripes. I learned to drive a stick on the way home after buying my 84 Z-28 Camaro.

Yes--an oil delivery truck. Probably the worst vehicle to learn in since it could pull through the parking brake and was almost impossible to stall.

Awww back when I was 16 my mom helped me get a brand new 2002 honda SI with the 5 speed. My mom kept asking me if I was sure I could drive stick because she had never seen me drive one (3rd car at the time). I told her it would not be a problem lol I wasn't great at taking off so we pretty much did burnouts coming home from every stop. I was great at shifting once we were rolling though. Went driving around all night and was a lot better by the morning. Had that car for a good year (and about 3 visits to the shop for fried syncros) but I learned and I loved it!

On my first car, Pontiac Wave 2005. I had the choice to buy the hatchback, manual 5 speeds, no AC, average mileage, or an auto, with AC, 4 doors, low mileage, same year... for a little cheaper.

Decided to go with the stick... cause I've always wanted to drive stick.

Better decision in my life.

In 2005 in my first vehicle, a 1996 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 V6 ext. cab. Beat the hell out of that truck on my friend's land. It kept coming back asking for more. Loved that truck.

I learned in Dec. of 2013 by fire, as I was awaiting the delivery of my ZL1. Someone gave me lessons in a Honda Accord three days before taking delivery, and I learned the rest through trial and error.

Its great to drive a stick car on an open road.

Learned in college with a 92 CRX in the hills of Berkeley, CA. That was a lot of fun
