Navigation System
Can anyone instruct me on how to set a permanent home address in the navigation system? I don't even see an icom for home. Thank you.

I don't think that you can.
I called the Chevy number in the owners manual and they talked thru a set-up as a contact. It's not at all intuitive. I suggest that you let them help you. |

What I ended up doing was to create a Contact called Home and I select that.

Try this link that was previously posted on this forum. The Navigation system starts on page 23. Click on the video icon on the key board picture and it will walk you through the various steps. It explains how to save a address towards the end of the video. It goes rather fast so you may have to watch it several times.

Word to the wise... NEVER put your home address in your built-in GPS or standalone GPS units.
If someone steals your car and/or GPS unit, they know you're not home so then its a shopping spree at your empty house. I, personally, use the local police department's address.

I have heard this theory before about dont use your home address. I don't know about you, but my registration and insurance cards are in the car. Both have the home address. So even if you dont have it programmed, the could simply put the address in and drive to your home. Some how, I don't think that the theory of most car thieves is to go to the home of the person who owns the car. Maybe the person who was driving is not the only one who lives there..

And yes, some car thieves do raid homes of the owner's of the vehicles they've stolen.
