Did you go to larger tubing? Must be hanging down a little more compared to stock. You really need a brace, maybe you can space it out if its touching on the bottom. Its hard to tell in this picture.

Brace

My Stainless Works Exhaust included spacers to account for the larger 3 inch pipes.

I am looking to get headers in a year or two so the mid pipe would need to be modified at that time, just not sure if it is okay to not have it for that long

What is the real importance of that brace?

None. Mine has been in the scrap heap for about 4 years now.

It should be there as it could help keep the drive shaft in the car if you ever broke it as I have at the drag strip. The exhaust my not be able to keep the drive shaft in the tunnel and the brace may help keep them both where they are supposed to be, if you have never broken a DS then you don't realize what happens when if break loose. Do what you want but I'm telling you from many years of experience.

A DS safety loop is much more effective than that simple tunnel brace…

It's kind of like Insurance. You love your family, and you're paying for something for basically nothing for you, but you're just hoping you don't die. Thats the tunnel brace. You love your drive shaft. You don't ever plan on breaking it. But on that day, it's going to get you. So insurance, or no insurance. It's kind of on you.
