Strickland's Chevy in Brantford ON
I went to this dealership in Brantford to look at Camaro's. It was mid summer and i showed up with my Daughter and myself. My wife dropped me and my daughter off at the dealership and went to Starbucks to get us all coffees. A very young salesman comes out to greet us. I explain to him that i was (i was in shorts and sandals, must have judged me as someone who couldn't afford a Camaro) that i was looking at Camaro's and wanted to take one out for a spin. The Camaro was Blue, SS with white stripes on it, coup. I also told him that i was looking for a VERT. He eventually went inside the dealership because i convinced him i was serious enough. He went in to get the keys for me. He came back out and said that someone in the depot told him that they do not allow Camaro's to go out on test drives because they dont want to drive down the value BS!. He allowed me to only start it up. He convinced me to come inside to look at payment options. I stood at his desk and looked at the computer. My wife shows up with Starbucks in her hands and two sales people literally RUN over to us with chairs to have my wife and I sit down to welcome us. Well, that was a little too late. Did they ever look stupid running over with the chairs. Needless to say the dealerships tone changed the second my wife show up. However, we still were not allowed to take it for a drive.
I then went to a dealership is Listowel ON, Larry Hudson, the salesman was a real gem. He took me and my wife and kids on a wonderful stretch of country road where we opened it up. That drive convinced my wife and we bought the Camaro i have now. First place i drove it after i bought it was the dealership in Brantford. Idiots..... |

Strictlands appears to be the same at all their dealerships. The Toyota store here treats folks the same way you were treated. Lowsy.
Hudsons is known to be good. Glad you found what you were looking for and be treated with respect. Last edited by Noreplacement; 02-08-2021 at 02:52 PM. |

Barry Cullen Chevrolet, in Guelph, I found to be a very accommodating dealership, very polite and professional sales staff, and I was offered a test drive without even asking for it.
This dealership uses the small town attitude and there is no pressure to buy. https://www.barrycullen.com/

I get it that the people who buy Camaro’s are passionate about their cars, but from a dealership perspective, a sale is a sale. They weren’t even interested in helping me find a vert to buy from them. Im still angry with how i was treated hence why I posted this.

thing is, they used to let all cars out for test drives, but those few idiots who always wreck everything had their way. i personally dont blame them for stopping the "window shopping racers" from blasting around town in their new vehicles.
i factory ordered my SS sight unseen never starting a car, even the ones forbes had in the showroom. these cars are badass, and the internet was all i needed for my decision. |

I still needed to convince my wife, the drive sealed the deal for her. Smooth sailing after that.
KMs do not drive down the value as much as time does for a dealership. If they were so scared about value, then dont sell cars. |

Strickland's is lost in the 1950's.
Strickland's is a really old school dealership.
And by that I mean the NEGATIVE part of Old School! It is a Mom and Pop style dealership and they are lost in the 1950's. I used an internet search to locate the Camaro I was looking for. They had it on the lot and would not negotiate anywhere near the Toronto dealership discounts at the time. So I went to Dean Myers and they wrote up a sale for that car. Strickland's refused to release the car as a dealer trade. No problem.....Dean Myers located one in Quebec with the NPP option. So THANK YOU Stricklands! I received the exact car I wanted with more options for a lot less. They seem to be allergic to internet sales and want to remain lost in the 50's. |

I’m glade to hear that you got the car you wanted. I thought that it was worth my while to write down my experiences at this dealership. It sounds like I’m not alone.
