Serious question, I don't want to be a poser.

BUT! I love the front Fascia on the ZL1... If I were to put that on my 2SS and NOT have a single badge anywhere that even remotely said ZL1... Would you all hate me and call me a poser? I mean technically the original ZL1 was the designation on the motor. Now it stands for the overall tech and power of the car... If I wanted a ZL1 I would buy it... if I could afford it LOL. I really just want the front end... and maybe the quad diffuser. It's no different than someone putting a SS Fascia on a LT or vice versa. It's not like I have a V6 with LS3 on the hood Or SS badges on the front and back right?

Thoughts?

I asked a couple of times during the chat, if ZL1 parts would be available, but it was never answered...

Near the end of the web chat, someone mentioned that the ZL1 facia and hood wouldn't be interchangeable.

Here it is:

Quote:
Al Oppenheiser:
One third of the ZL1 was redesigned from the SS it was based from. The front fascia/splitter/Hood are not interchangeable with the current SS.

The more I think about it, if the fenders aren't different, then you should be able to retrofit if you change all three pieces (facia, hood, splitter).

That's what I am thinking. Unless the way it attaches is so completely different.

Maybe he just said that so people wouldn't do it... RIGHT!! Haa you know someone will eventually.

Did you notice the shock tower brace under the hood? There may be some lightening of the car under there and they changed the rad support design so the facia/hood attachmentpoints may be different than the SS. Just a quess.

You can make a fascia to look like that, I think you can make it look better.

I think GM was smart not making it interchangable with the other trim levels. It keeps the ZL1 unique with it's own front clip.
