Anyone Had to Have an Intake Valve Cleaning yet?
I just bought a 2018 ZL1. As this is my first direct injection vehicle I was doing some research on its strengths and weaknesses. I ran across this on YouTube. You might want to skip past the "what is DI vs DPI" at the beginning and get to the pros/cons a bit later on...

It made me wonder if the LT4 will have a problem with build up on the intake valves as other DI engines do. I'm wondering if any of you 6th gen ZL1 owners have had to have the intake cleaned. If so, how many miles did you have on the car? How much did it cost?

With one of our E2-X systems installed, it will prevent up to 85% of the coking issues. Also ONLY run a good full synthetic oil as that has a great positive impact. The fuel you use has zero impact.
Here is a video of one at 5k miles so you can see how rapidly this builds, and NEVER do a solvent based engine running cleaning!!! This damages cylinders and pistons as the hard abrasive deposits break loose. Those are perfectly safe for the past port injection engines with "soft" carbon deposits, but GDI engine valves are operating at far higher temps and back these into a hard crystalline sand like material. |

Great!! Now I hate the lt4,,,,,,hmmmmmm, now I gotta get a ZR1,it has both di and port......Telling the wife may hurt a bit.

Does GM officially state somewhere that track use is covered? I would like to read the reference in case I run into a bone head at the dealership.

The warranty states:
"Proper Vehicle use is discussed in the Owner’s Manual." The Camaro manual states: "If the vehicle is a Camaro High Performance model, see the additional items in the Camaro High Performance supplement. Track events or competitive driving may affect the vehicle warranty. See the warranty manual before using the vehicle for racing or other competitive driving." I would imagine there is supplemental verbiage in the ZL1, and certainly the 1LE manuals. |

Al O has come out and said numerous times the camaro would be covered for track use. I’m too lazy to find it in writing but if you use the ‘search’ function you can find numerous threads supporting this as well.

Im still looking for the exact page, but i did read the manuals, and it said essentially that timed / sanctioned events were not covered, but an unofficial / untimed track day was. Every track day ive been to has has roughly 20 min blocks of time on the track. I would guess thats what they are talking about. Gives everything enough time to cool down and not be over stressed. Ill keep looking and post what manual and page when i find it.
