The pinch welds are recessed well above the bottom of the side skirts. No idea how that did not cause damage.

I worked at Big O for a few years and those jack are fine but imo they should have put wooden blocks at the pinch weld points so the side skirt is floating and not touching the lift.

There is an area that *looks* reinforced (square in shape with a hole in it); I believe that this is used when the body is going thru the production line. A LOT of places use this area as the jacking point. When the weight is disbursed, like using a piece of wood or with something with a wider foot print, the area can *usually* hold up, but this area is NOT meant to be the jacking point and it can crush.
...............…...They are probably using that area. While I have used that area myself (in a desperate situation), bear in mind that there is risk. If it's damaged, it can never be repaired back to "like new" condition due to design and location.....just keep that in mind. Personally, to have anything done on the car, I will ALWAYS try and avoid anyone but myself jacking up the car, if possible. Glad to hear your situation worked out and best of luck in the future ! |

How does a dealer do it? There must be a preferred method that won't leave damage.
