Talking Water in the front splitter?

Not sure if anyone else has noticed... but the 1LE front splitter retains water

I started installing a SEMA grille on my car last night and heard water sloshing around as I removed the front cap. On investigating further.. it was coming from the splitter.

When turned upside down, water came out Looks like the water is getting through the factory rivets.

Serious thinking about popping a couple drain holes on the bottom

I also had to remove mine off the car, dealership damage issue. I showed the dealership and asked if my car was had any flood damage. Man O man, did they scatter like a bunch of ants.

I had about 2 quarts of water inside. When my replacement splitter arrives, I will also pre drill some drain holes.

You can call it a spitter.

Just make sure when you drill the drain holes you go from a rear angle to prevent any air coming in that would cause a whistling noise when driving, Just saying~

Noticed the water draining when I installed the splitter guard washers from ZL1 add ons.
The water collects towards the ends (near each wheel) of the splitter - about a quart on either side. Thought I'd drilled into a coolant system line!

No problem, just drill a 3/16" hole into the bottom of the splitter in front of the tires a couple of inches in from the front edge of the splitter and issue solved.

Just completed my "Spitter" install. Six pop rivets, 12 (7mm) screws, and double face tape along the entire edge. Man-o-man, GM wants to make sure that splitter does not fall off the car at high speed runs. With all those fasteners, I wonder how much pressure (down force) is generated by that splitter. 100 lbs? more?

I did drill some drain holes before installing. Hard to believe GM did not pick up on that issue during all their secret testing in Germany.

Thought I would bring up this old post. It has been raining pretty steady for the past couple months here in Florida. While changing the oil, I drilled drain holes near the ends of the spoiler and a good amount of water drained out. Took a picture of the water draining. Enjoy.
