Stuck while installing Interior Spectrum Lighting

Hey there! I recently purchased a 2018 Camaro LT1 and decided I wanted to throw in the Spectrum Lighting package. It was all going smooth til we have to remove the radio module and bracket.

I have completely removed my glovebox door but when I try to remove the module, a black harness is completely in the way preventing it from coming down. Any one ever do this installation and have any tips or suggestions?

Thanks!

p.s. If pics are needed to help show my issue I can supply them.

Hi calebhrenchir, to the forums. The bottom of the glove box also has to be dropped to access the HMI and lighting modules, I don't recall any harness being in the way of that, if only because then the passenger would also be kicking around said harness.

I have attached the installation guide for my footwell lighting package, I know it isn't the same as the spectrum lighting post-install, but the part about dismounting the glove box should be similar.

Be prepared for a slightly tough time removing the two bolts in the back, lying on your back, head buried inside the footwell. Make sure you chug down a beer or at least a cold pop before reassembling the glove box, I cursed the entire automotive industry while doing it, and had to ask for help with the last bolt.

(BTW there is no such thing as a 2018 LT1, but I'm assuming you have an SS with the LT1 engine.)

I just put together a video on the footwell lighting portion of this, may be helpful to some degree? Can you upload a photo of what you are talking about regarding the radio module and bracket? Are you talking about the clipped in spectrum lighting box? Not sure what instructions you are going off of but here are some instructions and info here on Camaro6: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=444999

My footwell portion of install video:

Try a super long thick plastic zip tie. Tape the lighting wire to the big end of the zip tie and push the other end down until you see it protruding out. The thin plastic is rigged enough to push past the wiring harness, it may take several attempts. Carefully pull on the zip tie until the end with the wire appears. I hope this helps, it worked on my 1SS!
