i cant understand how the tech bullitin is saying to change out the entire diff before saying to adding more $8 delco friction modifier to get the clutches to slip easier. in a normal build if there is too much preload in the diff u can add more modifier to compensate. idk what im missing here. if you change the fluid to the same fluid it still has the same percent of modifier in it.

honestly im gonna leave it, I like the way the car puts the power down as it is and i want the posi to lock up more rather than less.

Exactly the same here. I changed the fluid once already, it helped a little. I'll wait for something major that I need to bring the car in for.

I was told today the sound is normal, and not to worry.

Is there a service bulletin on this?

I am not sure if it is a bulletin, but there is definitely info for the dealers, basically to change the fluid as their solution, which we all know that is not the solution.

I think if there was a full TSB then someone would have posted the number by now.

There is a bulletin posted in this thread. It is a few pages back. Someone posted a photo of it.

My build date is March / 2016. I have changed the fluid once with positive results. I did not refill with the AC Delco fluid. I have 8300 miles. I may change it again soon.

I have to bring my car in for yearly inspection anyways, so I will have them look at this, the rough shifting transmission , and my driver side seat cover pulling from the latch

So I had the same problem once my 1SS hit 3500 miles. I flushed the factory fluid (BTW, was dark black, smelled awful, and full of metallic objects) with Mobile 1 Gear Oil with LSD modifier in it. Problem was still there, if not worse. I drove it for a week to make sure it didnt go away after everything got lubricated. I finally ordered the Genuine GM AC Delco Synthetic Gear Oil 88900401 and Friction Modifier 88900330 and flushed the diff again. The noise got better but it took about a week and finally went away. Now, cold/warm temp doesnt matter, the noise is gone. Looks like a win for going back to what GM recommends.

I'm confused. Is the current spec for 2016s to add the separate friction modifier or do they claim that the new diff fluid already has some?

Hmm, I had seen that but didn't sound like the groaning (not chattering) problem I'm having and others were describing. I doesn't matter what I think though, only what my dealer thinks ...

I get the feeling that the service writer just trashed it. It doesn't seem to have a formal title to it...just "document ID xxxxx".

Those service writers seem to know nothing about cars and filter out any valuable input we attempt to provide.
