Thinking of trading in a M235i
Hi guys!
Glad to be back on Camaro forums! Almost a year ago and due to a "problem" (http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...=375614&page=2) I had to let my Camaro V6 go and got a BMW M235i and it's one hell of a car. Last week i was invited to the Camaro6 launch here in Colombia and I fell in love again, they let me drove it, loved the interior, technology, I have seen all of it on internet, but being on it was al hole different story. So the question, would you trade a M235i for a new camaro SS? Any comment about why you would or not will be appreciated! thanks, and have a good day |

My 335i M Sport lease is up in 1 week and I couldn't be happier. I can't wait to get the new Camaro.
EDIT: So to answer your question, do it! |

I'm cross shopping the SS 1LE with the M2. At the auto show, I sat in both 2SS and M235i back to back, and for the first time I liked the interior of the Chevrolet more. I can see how some would call the styling immature but I don't mind it (no problems finding a temp gauge either).

1ss is on my short list of possible replacement cars. If I am able to land a very significant discount off sticker, I really don't see how I can beat it for driving fun factor for the money. M2 is also on my short list but I am not convinced it is worth the price difference for me.
Will be test driving in the fall

I agree, also there is just something about the M2 that doesn't sit right with me. I almost feel like the front and rear bumpers are too much for the rest of the car ... something about it

I like the m235. Ive driven one for thousands of miles and it has a diff feel than the 6th gen, drive both and make your decision.

It's those wheels ... like all of the above looked at the M235 and the Audi S5...which I think is an amazing car. The thing that made me scratch it off was in the appearance dept. those 18" (19' optional) wheels looked small !! I think that it is amazing value if you are into those German understated interiors ( Also looked stark to me ), given the performance specs, but in my opinion...not in the same league as the SS, on most levels ...

I had a M235i and although it's a truly great all purpose car, I got rid of it due to acquiring a dedicated sports car, and in anticipation of soon acquiring something more sinister, and with a V8 (what exactly, however, is TBD).

I bought a 2015 BMW M235i last April. White 6-speed with red leather interior. Had previously owned a 2005 Mustang GT that was bought new. Prior to that were 2 other Mustang GTs, and 3 Camaro Z28s, as well as a 1971 442 W-30 and a 1965 Corvette 396 roadster.
I cross shopped the BMW against the 2015 Mustang GT, because the 6th gen Camaro wasn't out yet. Last month I sat in a 6-speed Hyper Blue 2SS with the Ceramic White leather accent interior, Navigation, MRC, and NPP at a local dealership. MSRP was $45K. Value-wise, there's no comparison. The 2SS has so many standard features it's crazy - heated/cooled seats, heated wheel, HUD, rear camera, Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless mobile charging, etc. On the BMW, I had to pay $2150 for Navigation, $950 for the rear camera, $1450 for leather, $2000 for optional exhaust with rear diffuser, and I still didn't get heated seats or wheel, HUD, Apple Car Play, etc. And the GM interior quality is no joke - I was impressed. That said, the M235i is a very high quality car - the best I have ever owned. There's attention to detail everywhere, and the QC is evident. Subjectively, the M235i is much subtler than either Camaro or Mustang. To everyone but enthusiasts, it looks like any other BMW, so in that sense it's a sleeper. Do you want to stand out in the crowd, or blend in? There are pros and cons to each. The real difference for me is the size. The M235i is 174 inches long, which is about 14 inches shorter than a Mustang or Camaro, and it's narrower by about 5 inches. The small size makes it nimble and super easy to drive. And fun. It just feels like you're going faster in a car that's smaller. Anyway, would I trade for a 2SS now? It sure is tempting, I will say that. Mine is not even a year old though, and there are still 3 years worth of free maintenance and warranty remaining, plus probably a big depreciation hit if I did trade or sell it. And, I love the car. It's modern, quick, handles like a sports car, and rides and feels like a luxury car. So now that I have it, I wouldn't trade it. But if I was cross-shopping the M235i, Mustang GT, and 2SS right now, there's a good chance I would go with the 2SS.
