That video isn't a good race. The zo6 was pulling away then he double clutched or missed a gear, not sure which then started pulling away.

Don't get me wrong I want the Camaro to win, but it's not going to happen. It was nice of Hennessey to post it though.

That's 1 for 1 though. How many ZL1s are sold and how many Z06s?

3 ZL1s would make more than 1 Z06. Going by your example.

They built 11,500 Z06 coupes, and 2726 Z06 convertibles in the 2016 MY....they only build 2400 ZL1 coupes and convertibles combined for the 2014 MY, for example...

Corvettes are selling well!

It's a very different market. Most folks ready to buy Z06s have 100,000 to spend on that, or a Porsche, etc...Most folks in the market for a ZL1 are either really big fans of Camaros, or are likely stretching their finances to do it.

Too bad the ZL1 doesn't come in Black Rose Metallic.

Noticed on Hendrick Chevrolet Duluth GA website some 17 Z06 11K off.

When Chevy releases the ZR-1 Vette the old neighbor will have remorse. There is little to compare between a Corvette and a Camaro. The performance difference is not even close. Physics dictates the outcome. Plus, the C7 is a work of art. Not saying the Camaro doesn't have appeal because it does. If I didn't have such an addiction for Drag Racing I'd buy a ZL1.

If I had z06 money I would get the z06, zr1 money I would certainly wait on the zr1. For me its z51 vs zl1, I really really want the vet but damn that lt4 and A10.

I have a 2016 Z51. It's no competition to the ZL1. Not even in the same hemisphere.

Go for the ZL1! I'll be dumping my Z51 the second the ZL1 comes in. I'm not a Vette/Starbucks kinda guy. I'm a tshirt / Jeans and Gas Station Coffee ZL1 kinda guy. The Vette is seriously overrated! Trust me I drive one!

I don't understand how people say it's not even close. Corvette is nice car but most ( around 15 k or more of the car is the frame to save weight. A base vet with simple stuff can cost 60 k. A zl1 is around 61 to 62. Plus I feel vets are for the older guy camaro the younger guy.

Far from a clean race... auto vs auto, Z06 is going to hand it to the ZL1; manuals are always up to the drivers. ZL1 is still VERY impressive.

Not "far" from.....in fact, I think it's most accurately representative of how the cars behave around a track...

Take away the Z07 package...of course the Corvette is and will still be faster....but I think people will be genuinely shocked at how well the ZL1 does...

I have both. Great cars but Z06 still the fastest and quickest. I like them both for what they are!

To be fair, it took a shitty driver in the Z06 missing gears for the race to be close. I wouldn't take that video with a grain of salt.

Only the G5 Camaros were not competitive with the Y body cars. In all other years the Camaro basically had the same powerplant with a slight rating reduction to make Y body buyers happy and about the same weight. Then G5 got porky and there was a great separation in performance. C7 and G6 are back with the same motor, rated slightly less but likely producing more power as in the past due to better packaging in the Camaros and a bit more weight but less than 10%. I just priced out a similar Camaro to my Z and there was a 34,000 difference in cost to the Camaro's advantage. Now I saved $20,000 of that by buying a late 16Z but even up I would expect most of that spread to hold although 17Zs are going for 10-12% off already and the ZL1 will likely spend a year with no to little discount. So the real difference is about $20,000.
