Transferring your music to a flash drive is probably the easy part, assuming that there are no copyright protection difficulties to get past and that the process itself doesn't lose too much.

The long term question is whether the interface for finding and selecting what you want to play is comfortable for the user to have to work with, and it's hard to beat inserting a specific CD in the slot where this is concerned. For example, not everybody is at all comfortable with touch screens or issuing voice commands.

Good question!

Thanks to all for your welcome!
Looks like i will be picking up a USB flash drive.
Whether or not i can download music to it remains to be seen; don't know if my computer can do that but i will give it a shot!

Pretty sure this is the one I have.

or you can go to the menu on the radio and select what ever album you want and play it just like your incerting it in to the HU with a CD only with out having to have the CD and case and a case to hold all the individual CD's. just way easier carrying a Flashdrive in your shirt pocket or just keeping it pugged in inside the center console.

they also have the PNY 8gb attache ones in a three pack for about 20 bucks that are pretty small also. average person probably doesn't need any more that 8GB but there so inexpensive I just load certain types on each one with tons of room to spare.

No argument there at all. On a data per unit volume basis I can't think of anything else that comes even close.

But how many times would you scroll through about 600 CD titles, one line at a time on the display, before that got old? Not that it'd fit on less than handful of 32G flashdrives anyway, so you have to wait for each new drive to be recognized and read. Don't forget to put your reading glasses on every time, too, which is a consideration that OP is likely familiar with but which rarely occurs to most folks younger than about 45.

Yep, we used to go to Pardners Bar-B-Q a lot. Not so much any more.
Glad to hear your wife beat the big C.
