Summer only track tires on 1LE

Hey folks.....

I just went about and lifted up the dust cover on my brand new 1LE sleeping out in the garage.

From what I can see, I have no cracks yet on these summer only track tires.

So far so good.

I'll keep posting updates until spring.

From my understanding they only crack when you drive them.

Yes, there is only a problem if you are driving. How cold is it in your garage?

Yeah, dont fret man you'll be fine if not driven. Let them warm up for a good 24 hours prior to driving them in the spring too.

Been driving mine in single digits and teens this week. I'm very gentle on them and so far so good, but it is worth noting that I have used SS wheels and new All-Seasons on the way to take over daily driving duties.

The garage is sealed tight though not insulated.
She's probable only a few degrees warmer than the outside if at all.
Next fall I'll be better prepared to lift the car and bring the wheels in the basement.
This caught me off guard with the track tires and wheel removal.
When the car came in I was already in the process of winterizing and storing multiple motorcycles, tractor and other stuff.
I got to the 1LE and said wtf.
If the tires don't survive, it will be the first time I've replaced tires with only 180 miles on them.
The news stated that this past weekend we were the 2nd coldest on the planet, colder than Mars.
Saturday the windchill was -35.
This was the storm we had last week and where my 1LE sits in the garage.

If I were parking long term, I'd use these - https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...rds=tire+saver

But yea, cracks appear if the rubber is really cold and you drive it.

Does anyone know if there are any plain Jane cheap Chevy rims availability that you could mount on the hubs just to set down the car on over the winter?
There's probably nothing offset enough to clear the brake assembly is what I'm thinking.

They won't crack from just sitting there, the literature is pretty clear around the issues coming from them being driven before being allowed to warm up properly for 24 hours.

The issue you'll have is with flat spots. So, you'll need to replace them anyway.

I use EPS foam plates under the wheels. Is cheap and very good.
@MJP,
As long You are not driving in cold conditions you shouldn’t have any problems.
